Tell-tale signs of a cheaper pint

It's not always easy to guess the price of a pint from the outside of a pub, though you could obviously go inside and ask (and a price list should also be available to view). But if you're scouting for a cheap beer that's a little more individual, a top tip would be to keep an eye out for a pub that brews its own beer. Though not all that common, the guide claims that you typically save 45p a pint compared to the average local price.

These are the cheapest regions, but where are the best pubs?

If you're after quality rather than a cheap and cheerful drink, the Good Pub Guide also recommends what it feels are the best pubs in Britain.
