20 spooktacular Halloween bargains!
From costumes to chocolate coffins, we've got your Halloween essentials covered!
The scariest day of the year is upon us... my wedding anniversary.
But the 31st October is not only the day that I tied the knot, it’s also Halloween. And if you want to get into the spooky spirit, then these deals will make sure that at least your bank balance won’t be frightful!
Food
Lets’ start with food, always the most important thing to me whenever it’s a special occasion!
1) Bargain pumpkins!
Nothing says Halloween like a pumpkin with a creepy face cut into it! And Asda is the place to nab a bargain on a pumpkin, as they are just £1 each!
2) Chocolate Coffins
I always love to see what wacky things the various supermarkets and retailers do with chocolate for Halloween, and Sainsbury’s has come up trumps with its 25g Chocolate Coffin. They are 89p each, but you can get two for £1.50!
3) Screme eggs!
On a similar theme, Cadbury’s Creme Eggs have become Screme Eggs, with the goo inside the egg turning a ghoulish shade of green. They are 52p each, or two for 85p at Waitrose.
How will you eat yours?!
4) Boo! Baked goods!
If baked bits and pieces are more your thing, then Asda is again worth a look, with all sorts of great goodies for just £1. There’s Mr Kipling’s Fiendish Fancies, Spooky Jaffa Cakes from McVities and some Spooky Choc ‘n Blood Orange Cupcakes from the Fabulous Bakin Boys.
5) Toffee apples
You can't have Halloween without toffee apples. I even had them at my wedding! Head over to Tesco and you can get them for 50p each until the 30th October, saving you 25p.
Fancy Dress
6) Pumpkin bucket
When you’re out collecting your various treats, you need somewhere to keep them. So why not make use of this ace pumpkin bucket from Asda, for just 50p.
7) Kid’s costumes for £1!
A big part of the fun of Halloween is seeing kids all dressed up in their costumes. And if you want your little nipper to take part in the fun, without spending a fortune, then Poundland is offering a number of different costumes, including a pumpkin outfit and a cat outfit, for the price of – you guessed it – just £1!
8) More kid’s costumes!
However, if your budget stretches a little further, or you want a slightly wider choice, then head over to Matalan where kid’s costumes are half price. My personal favourite is this sleepsuit and bib, on sale for just £2.75, though that’s probably because we will get some use out of it beyond next week!
9) Save 50% on adult costumes
However, the fun is never limited to just the kids when it comes to dressing up – adults don’t tend to need too much arm twisting to slap on some fake blood and fangs! Fancy Dress Outfitters is pushing a 50% sale on Halloween costumes and accessories, though in truth most of the deals are really only between 10% and 25% off.
10) Costumes from £10
Meanwhile, if you head over to Clintons you can get a decent outfit for under a tenner. Personally I’d be more likely to go with the Big Bad Wolf or Zombie costume than a Borat mankini though.
Party pieces
If you’re having friends and family over to celebrate the scariest day of the year, you’ll want to make your home looks suitably creepy.
11) Kit your house out for a tenner
Once again, Poundland is a great place to head to for some decoration bargains. From Skeleton Hand Lights to a Hanging Boo Ghost, Skull Goblets and Halloween balloons – all for just £1 - I reckon you could easily kit your home out for no more than £10.
12) Goblets
Over at Clintons, you can get a great deal on some spooky goblets, as they are buy one, get one half price!
13) Crackers, tablecloths and cups!
Head to Waitrose, and there’s an excellent buy two, get the third item free deal on Halloween decorations. There’s all sorts of bits and bobs on offer, including Halloween crackers, tablecloths, cups, party bags, invites and napkins!
Scary trips!
If you really want to enjoy a truly scary Halloween, then why not head out for a ghostly adventure?
14) A day at the Dungeon
If you live near York Dungeon or Edinburgh Dungeon, get yourself down there for a good old fright! And with these codes from netvouchercodes, you can get a whopping 20% discount!
15) Alton Towers
Alton Towers is putting on a Scarefest, and you can get up to 40% off by going via netvouchercodes. There are all sorts of creepy events lined up, with a Carnival of Screams and a Zombie scarezone!
16) Chills in the Chapel
On the 29th and 30th October, head over to the Union Chapel in North London, and you’re in for a treat, with The Blair Witch Project and Invasion of the Body Snatchers on show. Best of all, entrance is completely free, though you do need to register in advance.
17) A Halloween spa?
Of course, if you’re not the sort to get into the Halloween spirit, that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of Halloween offers! For example, at the Craxton Wood Hotel in Cheshire, there’s a special deal on – for £60 per person, you can enjoy two treatments, use of the spa facilities, a glass of wine and comfy robes and slippers for the day.
18) Fright Nights!
Alton Towers isn’t the only theme park with spooky Halloween events lined up – Thorpe Park has its own Fright Nights, offering rides in the dark and five live action horror mazes. If you book online, you can save 30%!
Other great deals
19) Spooktacular DVD deals
Over at the thehut, there’s a great deal on the Halloween list of CDs, DVDs, books, fancy dress and games. So long as you use the code SCARY3, you’ll get £3 off when you spend £30.
20) More spooktacular deals!
Meanwhile, you can save £4 when you spend £40 on the Halloween Horror deals at Zavvi. Just remember to use the code SLASH4.
Those are just the deals I’ve found, but there are plenty more out there. Why not share your tips and finds with your fellow readers below?
