Has anyone had dealing with this company?

I have recently had dealings with the pointshop.co.uk. Their offer (which I'm amazed I took up was offering a toothbrush for a £1 which they took from my credit card. When my statement appeared I see they have taken £45 for a 'vip' subscription of some sort.I got in touch with by Credit card organisation and they kindly looked up the number of this organisation which I think was in Holland and dialled the number for me. The Company insisted that I had said yes to this subscription. Have I been very very niaive or was this 'yes' box so very hidden. I'm a 75 year old pensioner, do not have the need to buy many items, always use paypal and amazon who confirm your purchase giving you an opportunity to cancel if you should have made a mistake. I received no confirmation email from this Company to alert me to this!!! What do you think about this. They did send me a confirmation email that the subscription hasnow been cancelled after my phone call so I have written back to them saying that I would never in any circumstances have subscribed to a catalogue and points system but they do not reply. I can ill afford to have this additional sum on my credit card bill - but will keep emailing them.
