The annual Halifax Quality of Life Index has ranked all the districts across the UK to find out where living standards are highest. The research looked at 24 categories including average earnings, employment, health, life expectancy, personal wellbeing, education and broadband speed. Here are the top 20 places to live, and what it costs to live in them.

All up north in the land of the ice and snow, the midnight sun and where the hot springs flow. Wouldn't want to live in any of them especially as the mainland ones are miles from the sea.
