Thanks, Tujags. I took my knife to Victorinox in New Bond Street (found via an Internet search) and they replaced the spring, free. They seem to have a very large range of pocket knives, from about £20 to over £400. (I now remember, it was Interlaken, not Lucerne - not very important information!)

From the drawer of personal experiences: Victorinox are useless. They break all the time as in "I've got one that's fixed for the third time". I'd suggest Leatherman. Zippos are equally useless. Need refilling constantly, smell and leak. Refillable electronic gas lighter any time. Kikkoman has got to be the worst soy sauce I've every tried. Any other will do.

Victorinox Swiss Army Knives are guaranteed for life you can return it to their agent in your country & it will be repaired or replaced for free. I have a Minichamp that is now on its third rebuild/replacement.
