    The problem is that the online retailers aren't selling into a "level playing field". If your shop is on the High Street you pay a huge amount in business rates. If your "shop" is a warehouse in the middle of nowhere you pay virtually no business rates. No wonder they can make it not worthwhile to go to the High Street! Let's make online retailers pay High Street business rates (and tax) relating to the size of their warehouses (and business turnover) to level the "playing field" and see what happens....

    Now is a good time to learn that people need decent wages to be able to buy stuff. It hasn't helped that millions of pounds have been taken out of peoples pockets over the last ten years as benefits have been cut. It goes to show that, the already rich don't use these shops - so giving them ever bigger tax brakes doesn't help the shop keepers. Motto.. Don't vote Tory. If you value your shops.
