    Interesting article and those wishing to learn more might want to read Guy Shrubsole's book 'Who owns England?' which details land ownership both current and historically . Re the 50 list as set out I was surprised that the Lilburn Estate in Northumberland did not get a mention as current figures would indicate that it owns c 30,000 acres in that county . Thanks .

    Everyone,apart from journalist, who compiled article knows the 50000 acres at Balmoral is owned privately by HM The Queen and not the state. That makes her land holding 70000 acres.
