I was in Morecambe the other week staying at the Travel Lodge I note that the council in their wisdom have introduced overnight parking charges for the car park next to the Travel Lodge. No disrespect to Morecambe but in truth, it is dying on its feet, anybody who knows Morecambe will know that there are loads and loads of parking (all pay for) in Morecambe. If the decision makers in Morecambe council had the minimum brain cells they would realize that Morecambe desperately needs as many visitors as possible and scrap all parking charges. They would then see more businesses coming into Morecambe and more prosperity as a whole, That's how you rejuvenate dying towns not by local government taxes.

When town / city center parking started to become a major money maker for local authorities, and my shopping experience became too much of a hassle, I started to look at buying online. That was about six years ago. Today I rarely venture into town and I am a regular online purchaser from Amazon and Ebay. Its quick, easy and definitely cheaper. In my opinion the cause of the decline of town and city centers is the Local Authorities money grabbing attitude to both shoppers and business owners, whilst they ignore the consequences.

Finding myself agreeing with MK22 especially for shoes. I have very wide feet - bordering on being flippers - and much as there are many seeming bargains in shoes to be found online, I always end up sending them back because they are too narrow. (Cheaper shoes being made predominantly in the far East where they have smaller feet doesn't help.) I simply have to try on shoes in a shop.
