I shop at Tesco only in dire emergencies! Their attitude to their suppliers is crap, as is their attitude to animal welfare. The article showed that some of the so-called 'farm fresh' labels were meaningless, the food wasn't even British and not from family farms at all, but from horrible factory farms where the animals were badly treated. I wouldn't even trust their 'organic' label to actually BE organic. In addition their staff are really rude and unhelpful. If I want the basics, I can save money by going to Lidl, but to be honest, I have been increasing how much shopping I do there. Their fresh fruit and veg is excellent value and British where possible. They DO have British meat, just check the labels and a good selection of frozen food. I don't buy non-food items there, never seen anything I would want. With what I save, I can then afford to buy premium meat from a real butcher or my local farm shop where I can also get eggs, seasonal fruit and the best seasonal fruit and veg. I also shop in Sainsburys but am concerned that they will be dragged down to Asda standards which are even worse than Tesco.

oldhenry Lidl are like glorified market traders, they have goods on the shelves one week then you never see them again. You have obviously never returned faulty goods to Lidl, their customer service is in name only. Step into any British big named supermarket and you see a wide range of products that are available day in day out. All Lidl is about is Lidl, profit is Lidl only interest
