    peterm4242 Scotland obliges developers to have two energy efficiency / revnewable items, To this end all do better with insulation and then have either solar cellls on the roof or an air source heat pump. Ok so you may be limited by the current feed in tariff limit in some areas (the local grid sometimes struggles to take power back in on sunny days(!) Wale is heading this way, so as usual it is England lagging behind the devolved countries. Now this is not always good as the current SNP government seem to be signed up to net zero carbon by 2035 (5 years ahead of England) which is driving some weird local decisions....

    So why are solar panels not MANDATORY on all new buildings in the UK? Anything to do with vested interests by any chance?
