A world away from the glitz and glamor that surrounds her today, Demetria Devonne Lovato was born on 20 August 1992, in Albuquerque, New Mexico and raised in Dallas, Texas. The middle child of three sisters, Demi's parents, Patrick Lovato and Dianna De La Garza, divorced when she was just two years old. In 1995, Demi's mum married her stepdad, Eddie De La Garza, who Demi has spoken of as her father figure.
Demi and her family lived in this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in the city of Colleyville in northeastern Texas after her parents' divorce. The 3,200-square-foot property was the perfect home for the budding starlet and today is estimated to be worth $563,000.
In the past, Demi has been candid about the hardships her family faced while she was growing up. Her 2017 documentary, Simply Complicated, gave fans a glimpse inside her childhood home, including this gallery wall adorned with family photos.
Growing up, Demi entered and won a number of talent contests and performed in a host of famous venues, including the Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day halftime show with LeAnn Rimes. However, her career started to gain traction at the age of 10 when she became a regular on the children's TV show Barney & Friends, where she met close friend Selena Gomez.

After her on-screen success, Demi went on to release her first album Don't Forget in 2008 and also joined the Jonas Brothers on their Burnin' Up tour the same year. Back in 2007, when her career was reaching new heights, Demi rented out this home in Toluca Lake as her Californian base. The star stayed in the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home with her family for two years before moving on.

In September 2010, around the time of her 18th birthday, Demi took her first steps onto the property ladder and snapped up this cute home for $2.3 million. Purchased by the star for herself and her family, the Californian home sits tucked away in the foothills of the suburban neighborhood of Sherman Oaks.
Bought whilst Demi was on tour with the Jonas Brothers, just before she entered a rehab facility in November of the same year, the walled and gated Spanish-style home has just over 4,000 square feet of space and dates back to 1928. The formal living room boasts a fireplace, arched windows and a vaulted ceiling with exposed trusses.
The four bedrooms and six bathrooms include a spacious master suite with a fireplace, two walk-in closets and an ensuite bathroom with a separate bathtub and shower, while the room's small terrace has views across the San Fernando Valley and beyond.
Other stylish spaces in the main home include a family room with a media centre, a sunken wet bar and an office suite with a built-in desk. Outside there's a detached guesthouse, where Demi is said to have stayed when she wanted privacy from the rest of the family, complete with one bedroom, a full kitchen, living room and bathroom.
The backyard is the perfect private oasis. Packed with beautiful tropical trees, the rear of the property features a patio that leads out onto tiered gardens, a heated swimming pool with a waterfall and a sports court. In November 2020, the star put the home on the market for $2.6 million and sold it in January 2021 for the asking price.
In 2016, just as she was releasing her fifth album, Confident, Demi bought this plush Los Angeles home for $8.3 million. Hidden away in the Hollywood Hills, the mega-mansion sits perched above Sunset Boulevard and benefits from sweeping views of the city and ocean.
It may have been the lap of luxury, but in February 2017 just before Demi moved in, the home was deemed unlivable. A mudslide caused by torrential rain saw an estimated 20 tons of earth cascade down the hill, landing on Demi's driveway. It appears the damage was eventually resolved though as Demi was able to move in. However, she went on to tragically suffer an overdose in the home in 2018.
The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom home sits on over an acre of land and boasts a number of wow-factor living areas, including a relaxed downstairs lounge that backs out onto the manicured yard. The star eventually sold the property in June 2020 for $8.3 million.
In June 2020, Demi splashed out $2,500 a night to rent out a mirrored house in Joshua Tree National Park, California, with her former fiancé Max Ehrich. Named Invisible House, the famous reflective residence disappears into the landscape, making it the perfect hidden home for a romantic getaway.
