Jaw-dropping superyachts and gigayachts are already a fairly regular sight on the world's seas. And a huge range of new luxury vessels are set to launch over the next 12 months. Read on as we take a look at 13 of the most incredible superyachts and gigayachts setting sail in 2022, and prepare to feel (sea) sick with envy. All dollar values in US dollars.
Measuring in at 262 feet (80m) with a top speed of 29 knots, Project Cosmos by Heesen Yachts should be ready for launch in April 2022. It's on course to be the world's "largest and fastest full-aluminium motoryacht" according to its creators. While the boat's price remains a mystery, one thing is for sure: it won't come cheap.
The vessel boasts a range of stunning features including a helicopter pad that converts into an outdoor cinema, a beach club with a sunken walk-around bar, and a 23-foot (7m) pool that comes complete with contra-jets, a waterfall, and a glass bottom. The yacht has capacity for up to 12 guests, with further space for 19 crew members.
Naturally, the interior of Project Cosmos is just as lavish as the exterior, if not more so.
Designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, the living areas are inspired by nature and mathematics including the Fibonacci sequence. Backlit onyx, straw marquetry, and sparkling crystal glass panels are among the opulent materials used in the design, with the overall look slick, modern, and elegant.
Set to sail in summer 2022, Project 24207 is by Dutch luxury yacht builder Amels, and is part of the brand's Limited Editions range. Measuring in at over 242 feet (74m), the luxury vessel has room for 12 guests and 19 crew.
Stand-out features include on-deck hot tubs, an owner's suite with a private deck and hot tub, en suite cabins and, of course, a pool.
Perhaps the most impressive feature of Project 24207 is the amazing 800-square-foot (75-square-metre) wellness centre (pictured) located on the main deck.
The area can be customised to include a range of relaxation options, including a jacuzzi, sauna, gym, massage or beauty room, showers, and a juice bar. How dreamy!
Next we have Project 6001, scheduled to be delivered in spring 2022. Measuring in at 197 feet (60m), the superyacht is the first Amels 60 vessel to have both hybrid power and propulsion technology.
Renowned designer Espen Øino crafted the exterior design, which includes a deck with a pool, as well as outdoor dining areas where guests can eat while enjoying the stunning ocean views.
The interior, brought to life by Winch Design, is just as splendid. Inside there are six ultra-comfortable cabins for 12 guests, as well as additional space for a dozen crew members and the captain.
The living space includes a gym area, luxe office space, and sumptuous lounge areas – and there's even a piano. We can't lie, this incredible yacht turns us green with envy.
While information on the 255-feet (77.8m) Custom Amels 78 is scarce, we do know this: the superyacht is one of the largest projects ever undertaken by Amels.
Set to be delivered in 2022, the contract for this ambitious vessel was signed at the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show. The buyer chose Espen Øino and his team to oversee the exterior, while the team at Nice-based Zuretti Interior Designers was selected to transform the interior.
The roomy yacht will boast enough space for 14 guests, as well as 26 crew members and the captain.
Judging by the photos, this superb vessel will also feature several sundecks and at least two outside pools for passengers to enjoy the stunning ocean views in serious style.
Set to sail somewhen this year, the fully-customised SeaXplorer 58 from Damen Yachting 58 is undoubtedly the perfect ship for a globe-trotting thrill seeker.
The 190-feet (58m) superyacht comes equipped with a range of pulse-raising toys, perfect for thrill seekers. We're talking a 37-feet (11.4m) performance sailboat, two large multi-role tenders, road and off-road vehicles, and even motorcycles.
And of course, as a vessel that screams adventure, the exterior of this superyacht features a helipad. If you're wondering who's behind the movie-worthy aesthetic, by the way, Azure Yacht Design worked on the exterior and Design Unlimited oversaw the interior.
Beneath the helipad is a bow point observation lounge, a luxury cabana-style outdoor lounge with folding balconies, and an infinity-edge pool. As for the upper deck, you’ll find an open sky lounge, a dining area, and a jacuzzi. The interior boasts six suites for 12 guests. There's also room for 18 crew members too.
Yet another entry from Amels is the fully-customised Project Witchcraft, set to be delivered to its buyer in autumn 2022.
The exterior has been designed by Espen Øino, while the buyer collaborated closely with their own design team to fully personalise the interior to their preferences. Measuring in at 197 feet (60m) long, this magnificent craft boasts space for 12 guests and 13 crew, including a captain.
Undoubtedly set to make jaws drop when it hits the Seven Seas, the superyacht appears to feature numerous sundecks, perfect for soaking in the sea views, as well as a pool located on the top deck.
Looking at the photos, we wish we boasted the undoubtedly bumper bank balance required to set sail on this beauty...
Those with a spare €7.7 million ($8.6m/£6.5m) might be interested in making the stunning Leven superyacht from Van Der Valk their floating home.
Measuring in at nearly 90 feet (27.4m), the exterior of this magnificent craft features a spacious rooftop lounge area, as well as a lower deck seating area and outdoor dining space.
Step inside Leven to discover four guest cabins, with capacity to sleep eight.
The windows in the open-plan kitchen and living space offer breathtaking panoramic ocean views, ideal for soaking up over your morning coffee or evening cocktail. We have no doubt that this beauty will turn heads when she hits the ocean in 2022.
Listed at a price of €13.8 million ($15.5m/£11.7m), this 125-feet (38m) superyacht is the latest creation from Italian yacht builder Maori.
Set to be delivered in 2022, the exterior of the Maori 125 was crafted by luxury design house Pulina DNA; the interior is the work of Marco Ciampa, a Sardinia-based designer and architect.
With a master cabin and four VIP suites, the Maori 125 can comfortably sleep 10 guests; there's also space for seven crew members, who will attend to your guests’ every need.
Designed with waterfront living in mind, the swish superyacht also boasts a beach club, perfect for entertaining.
When completed in 2022, the 164-feet (50m) Danzante Bay will be the largest recreational superyacht ever built in Canada.
Created by Crescent Custom Yachts, the sleek and stylish vessel was purchased by an American buyer for a reported $39 million (£29.4m). The lucky owner named the yacht after his golf course in Loreto, Mexico.
The roomy craft sleeps 12 guests across six cabins, including two VIP suites and two twin, and there's also room for 10 crew members.
While further details surrounding this ambitious build remain under wraps, we know that Danzante Bay features at least one pool and plenty of outdoor deck space for guests to enjoy that fresh ocean air.
Scheduled for delivery in 2022, Italian company CRN is currently constructing the 203-feet (62m) CRN 138 in Ancona.
The superyacht was sold in January 2018 for a staggering €51 million ($57.6m/£43.5m). Its exterior was designed by Omega Architects and features sleek, sporty lines.
The interior design of the superyacht was masterminded by Pulina Exclusive Interiors.
The contemporary décor features warm, natural hues, and huge windows that are perfect for filling the boat with natural light. With seven cabins spread across four decks, the CRN 138 can comfortably accommodate 14 guests, with additional room for up to 15 crew members.
Next in our round-up is this floating paradise from the luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel group. Measuring an incredible 623 feet (190m), the Evrima reportedly cost a stunning $320 million (£241.3m) to build.
More of a gigayacht than a cruise ship, the luxury vessel was supposed to launch in June 2020. Due to COVID-19 delays, her debut voyage is now scheduled for May 2022.
Oozing with opulence, the ship will feature 149 luxury suites, two infinity pools, a restaurant curated by acclaimed chef Sven Elverfeld, a champagne bar, a spa, and a relaxation lounge.
Although Evrima's maiden voyage will see her sail from Lisbon, Portugal to Palma, Mallorca, the vessel will actually offer 40 different trips. Lucky passengers can even hop off-board and indulge in stop-off experiences, such as visiting a Bordeaux vineyard.
Currently under construction (pictured) and due for completion in 2022, the REV Ocean will measure an incredible 600 feet (182m) once completed. It will reportedly be the world's largest gigayacht.
Commissioned by philanthropic Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Røkke, the cutting-edge ship will undertake world-saving scientific missions. With marine ecosystem research its goal, REV Ocean has reportedly cost a hefty $350 million (£264m) to bring to life, and is being built by Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri VARD.
Despite being built for business rather than pleasure, scientists working aboard the REV Ocean will still enjoy luxe touches, such as plush cabins, a fitness centre, and even a winter garden.
We’re sure the job applications will be flooding in to board this beauty...
It looks like Jeff Bezos may be swapping space exploration for the Seven Seas in 2022, if this 417-feet (127m) superyacht, reportedly commissioned by him, is anything to go by. Although with a cost upward of $500 million (£377.1m), we wonder if this ultra-expensive vessel might be able to explore both...
Known only as Y721, the megaproject has been described as “one of the finest sailing yachts in existence” and is being crafted by Dutch yacht builder Oceanco. Once completed, it's tipped to be the largest sailing yacht in the world.
While the Y721 is shrouded in mystery at the moment, the first photos of it showcase the superyacht's striking black hull and sleek exterior design.
We also know that the gigayacht will be a three-masted schooner and will boast several decks. It will also come with its very own support yacht complete with helipad. One thing's for sure: we can't wait to see this beauty in all her glory when she finally sets sail. We imagine Jeff is probably pretty excited too...
