Modern garage gym conversion
How's this for a garage conversion? The need for sleep was the inspiration for a mum of seven to create her own fitness studio and this cool, monochrome gym with geometric patterned walls is the best argument we can think of for decluttering a garage. With a statement Sputnik-style chandelier, a gorgeous hardwood floor and a painted-brick band by the floor, it's a triumph of interior design but more importantly, it's got everything you need to get in regular exercise every day. We feel inspired!

Bright converted outbuilding with mirror wall
This super simple workout studio with its triple mirrored walls, white interior and pretty purple fairy lights is the perfect place to work on your form. The brick mural wall and wood flooring give the room a light and airy feel to it, complete with a cute potted plant in the corner for a bit of nature. Non-slip rubber flooring has been used almost like a rug to protect the floor underneath and provide grip for squats and lunges, and the gabled roof adds some height to the room. There's also a clock for keeping an eye on the time, a TV for keeping entertained on the treadmill and a wall-mounted towel rack.

Opting for a bright and zingy theme for your workout space, like this pretty turquoise and white gym, will really help get you in the zone. The white walls, practical storage unit and contrasting blue wall creates a simple yet modern looking setup that anyone can achieve in a spare room of their house. Focusing on free weights and cycling, the exercise mats coordinate with the floor and feature wall, plus they divide up the workout area and provide some protective cushioning.

Modern gym and chillout den
This cool gym with its comfy blue sofa and flat-screen TV is the perfect place to train hard then relax and unwind. The modern box room holds a lot of different equipment meaning two people could easily work out in here at the same time. With its crisp white walls, practical laminate flooring and bright overhead ceiling lights, it’s a functional and minimal space with everything you need in a gym: full-length mirrors to check your position, a kettlebell rack and even lockers for storage. Best of all, the wall-mounted guitar shows that this room is multipurpose, a space devoted to personal passions. What’s better than that?

Plant-friendly basement gym renovation
There's something very appealing about this humble home gym. The neutral walls and stylish hardwood floors are both calming and sophisticated but it's the abundant foliage that really gives this gym its character. Bringing plants into your home gym will give your room a bit more color, purify the air and may also help boost your mood as you exercise. This clever scheme also uses half-size mirrors positioned perfectly (a top way to save if you're doing your own) and has protected the lovely flooring with rubber mats.
DIY medal room and workout space
What better way to motivate yourself than to arrange your previous medalist and race mementos in your training room? Running enthusiasts could try incorporating their marathon numbers into the décor, as seen in this fab home gym. The equipment storage rack to the right also doubles up as a healthy snack tray, which is sure to curb any cravings. Throwing in some motivational quotes and posters on the walls will help you stay focused on your goals as you break a sweat.

Aerial yoga haven
Aerial acrobats don't often get to train at home, so this dedicated room with specialist space is a rare treat, allowing two people to hang out together! This gym keeps things simple with less equipment with just a neat corner storage unit, a large mirror and a mellow sage green feature wall, leaving plenty of space for stretching, dancing and aerial yoga. Keep your workout room low-key and minimal to get rid of any unwanted distractions – it will help utilize the space you do have regardless of size.

Stylish basement gym
We love this large modern home gym filled with enough essentials for you to work out alone or with friends. Some of the equipment, like the leg press machine on the left, is multi-purpose which is a great idea for spaces smaller than this one. Rubber flooring throughout means that every inch of the room is exercise-proof and the large mirrors let you check your squat positions.

Space-saving CrossFit corner
A simple but organized setup is sometimes the best way to make the most of spare space for exercising at home. This workout area utilizes the shape and size of an attic room by storing the bulky weight lifting equipment against the shortest wall and hanging the gymnastics equipment in the center, leaving plenty of room for acrobatics and climbing. Hanging a rope from a strong beam is a great idea – it's one of the toughest exercises you can do – but make sure it's safely installed.

Converted garage weights room
Got a huge garage and not much use for it? How about transforming it into your own personal fitness space? Be sure to add in a workout- friendly floor so you can squat, bench press and deadlift without slipping and to warm up the concrete floor.

Chic spare bedroom transformation
This luxe scheme, with its deep indigo paneled feature wall and thick carpet, is a great example of how you don't need to do a lot to a room to get it gym-ready. If you swapped out the treadmill for a bed it would still look great, but it's actually a very functional workout space. The running machine faces a large flat-screen TV, there's an overhead fan to keep you cool while you sweat and the mustard statement chair is perfectly positioned for putting your running shoes on.

Old workshop to gym makeover
Any sort of room can be converted into a home gym, as this former workshop proves. A neutral gray and white color scheme is brightened up with the bright orange equipment with multiple downlighters providing excellent task lighting in key areas. Two large rubber mats divide up the space and provide a secure flooring option for weights, hula hooping and steps. Having a whiteboard or blackboard on the wall is a great way to keep track of your goals, organize your workout routines and keep yourself motivated with some encouraging slogans to help you stay focused.

Coastal-themed workout area
The whole point of a home gym – apart from the convenience – is that you can decorate it exactly how you like! This sweet room uses nautical accessories and a blue and white color scheme to give the room a decidedly jaunty coastal feel. The octopus and the anchor cushion are actually useful additions to the space; one serves as a rack to hang bungees and weight keys, while the other will provide comfort for your tired back when you need to rest!

Neutral fitness room
This simple, neutral home gym offers plenty of space to move around in, keeping the areas between equipment empty to free up more floor for stretching and non-equipment workouts. The taupe walls are soothing and the whole thing is a pleasing, practical place for a serious workout. Essential storage keeps weights and other equipment organized and the gym clutter-free.

The back wall of this workout room has cleverly been transformed into a mini climbing area, great for building core strength. Ceiling-mounted hooks for pull-ups and resistance training have been installed too, making the most of every inch of space. This roomy gym has everything you could possibly want or need for a great workout. On the weight training side of the room, what looks like a shockproof floor has been installed to prevent any damage to the hardwood. Glamorous home gym
We’re obsessed with this elegant white-walled gym setup complete with polished hardwood floors. The white trimmed walls, jeweled ceiling lights and framed mirrors make this workout space look glamorous and high-end but it is still a serious exercise space, with a bench press, treadmill, yoga ball and gym rack. The adjoining space even contains a large weights area for bodyweight training. Large windows and the archways provide plenty of natural light, which is sure to help you wake up and start the day with a great morning workout.

If you’re not a fan of lots of gym equipment, keeping your workout space simple can be just as effective. Light and bright modern gym room
Gray is a popular choice for a home gym and we love how it's been used to create wide horizontal stripes in this fabulous fitness room. The lucky owners of this home gym have three huge windows and lovely views to make the room feel less closed in and a large mirror makes the room feel double its size. Classy touches like the rolled towels kept neatly in a side unit and oversized foliage elevate this room to another level.

Roomy workout space
Exercise charts and bespoke sports-themed canvas prints adorn the walls of this light and bright family gym, personalizing the space. There's a huge variety of equipment here, from a stylish leopard print beam for practicing gymnastics to colorful exercise mats hanging on the walls plus runners, rowers and weight balls. Very impressive!

Home gym with wall decal
We love this idea of transforming a plain wall with a wall decal. Easy to apply and remove, you can go for words of encouragement in bold black typography or something more abstract to give a bare scheme some visual interest. Exposed brick also adds texture to this cool corner, with the weight rack perfectly positioned to make the most of the awkward space.

Elegant carriage house conversion
This unique home gym has been set up in a converted carriage house and has used the historic structure as inspiration for the décor. A gorgeous oversized chandelier isn't everyone's first thought for a workout space, but now that we've seen it we want nothing else! The wooden beams, walls and floor have all been freshened up with a clean white paint job, and then practical equipment and lavish home furnishings sit side by side. With a jigsaw rubber floor, it's totally functional, but also totally fabulous!

Industrial-style gym with punch bag
With cool industrial-style furnishings and a clean black and white color scheme, this gym strikes the perfect balance between form and function. From the reclaimed sign to the practical bench with hooks and storage shelves, everything looks put together and there's a place for everything. Plus, is there anything cooler than having your own personal punch bag for when you need to let off some steam? We think not.

Super sleek glass-walled basement gym
Sleek and stylish, this all-white modern basement gym is one for the minimalists. A standout walnut staircase leads down towards the workout room, encased with a floor-to-ceiling glass wall, which creates the illusion of extra space. Fitted out with a workout bench, rowing machine, treadmill and a TV, the room still feels light and airy thanks to the all-white epoxy floors and white ceiling. It would be an extremely zen place to do your morning routine!
