The Osmond family is one of the most famous showbiz dynasties in America. It all started when brothers Alan, Merrill, Wayne, and Jay formed a barbershop quartet as children, rising to fame on The Andy Williams Show in the 60s. Younger brothers Donny and Jimmy later joined the band, which became known as The Osmonds.
Following in the footsteps of other musical families like The Jacksons, The Osmonds exploded in popularity in the 1970s, partly thanks to their clean-cut Mormon image. The group's hit songs include One Bad Apple, Love Me for a Reason, and Hold Her Tight, and they're estimated to have sold over 100 million records worldwide. Sadly, Wayne Osmond recently died at the age of 73.
After six decades in the spotlight, read on to discover what the surviving Osmonds are up to today and find out who built the biggest fortune.

Born on 19 October 1945 in Ogden, Utah Virl is the eldest Osmond sibling. His net worth is currently unknown.
Born with a hearing disability that prevented him from joining The Osmonds on stage, Virl participated in the family business in a host of other ways, helping out backstage and taking photographs of his younger siblings for publicity purposes.
Virl, pictured here with his younger brother Tom, has also worked as a producer and is known for the TV movie The Gift of Love (1978), which starred his younger sister Marie. He's appeared on several TV shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show and the 2001 documentary Inside the Osmonds.
Today, little is known about his private life. However, we do know that Virl is the proud father of seven children – Hyrum, Virginia, David, Aaron, Joseph, Olivia, and Jared – who he shares with his ex-wife Christopher Marie Carroll.
Born on 26 October 1947, Tom is the second eldest Osmond sibling. Like his older brother Virl, Tom's net worth is currently unknown.
Another lesser-known Osmond brother, Tom was also born with a hearing disability that left him almost completely deaf, meaning he was unable to join the family band.
Later in life, Tom gained some of his hearing back through surgery and learned to play several instruments. He's even appeared on stage to perform with his siblings (pictured together in 2008) on rare occasions.
For the most part, though, Tom stays out of the spotlight. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 28 years before retiring in 2014. He married Lyn Heslop in 1972, and the former couple have five children together, including one who sadly died as an infant.
He’s now married to Carolyn Osmond, with whom he has two children.
Born on 22 June 1949, Alan is the third-born Osmond sibling. Like his brothers Virl and Tom, his net worth is unknown.
Alan was one of the original members of the family barbershop quartet and rose to fame on The Andy Williams Show in the 1960s.
During this period, he also served in the California Army National Guard.
By the time younger brothers Donny and Jimmy had joined the band, Alan was demoted to backing singer.
However, Alan is a talented songwriter and penned some of The Osmonds' greatest hits, including Goin’ Home and Crazy Horses.
Alan also dabbled in acting in his youth, most notably appearing in the Western TV series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters between 1963 and 1964 along with his younger brothers Wayne, Merrill, and Jay.
Additionally he’s produced several TV projects, such as the variety show Donny & Marie and The Osmond Family Christmas Special.
Today, Alan prefers to stay out of the spotlight. The family man and his wife, Suzanne Pinegar, share eight children, who have performed together as the Osmond Brothers Second Generation.
Born on 30 April 1953, Merrill Osmond is the fifth-born sibling in the famous family. His estimated net worth is a respectable $5 million (£4m).
Merrill was an original member of the family barbershop quartet and was later the co-lead vocalist and bass guitarist of The Osmonds.
He co-wrote many of the band's smash hits with his brothers Alan and Wayne.
Outside of the family band, Merrill has achieved moderate success as a solo artist. Most notably, he released the country duet You’re Here To Remember (I’m Here To Forget) with Jessica Boucher in 1987.
He’s dropped numerous solo albums over the decades, with his latest offering being 2022’s Now is the Time.
However, Merrill announced his intention to retire that same year and completed his final American tour in April 2022.
Merrill has dabbled in acting and appeared in the Western series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters in the 1960s.
He's also worked in the production industry, most notably serving as an executive producer on the variety show Donny & Marie.
The recently retired star lives in Utah with his wife, Mary Carlson. The couple shares six children: Troy, Justin, Heather, Sheila, Travis, and Shane. Troy sadly passed away in 2018 at the age of 33.
Jay, born on 2 March 1955, is the sixth of the eight Osmond siblings. His net worth is unknown.
Jay was an original member of the barbershop quartet and rose to fame on The Andy Williams Show.
He later became the drummer for The Osmonds. Due to his more guttural tone, Jay also provided the vocals for the band's more rock 'n' roll-inspired tracks, including Crazy Horses and Having a Party
In addition to music, Jay starred in The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters with his older siblings Wayne, Merrill, and Alan in the 1960s.
He also made a cameo in the 2013 comedy movie Awful Nice, appearing as himself.
Additionally, he's teamed up with his famous family to produce the TV projects Donny & Marie and The Gift of Love.
The American star temporarily relocated to Chester, England, in 2019 to work on a stage play about his famous family. The Osmonds: A New Musical, which was written by Jay, premiered in the UK in February 2022.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the theatrical hit, Jay revealed: "I’ve wanted to tell my story for such a long time, and the opportunity to create this beautiful musical, a sort of 'living autobiography,' seemed the perfect way to do so."
As for Jay’s personal life, he shares three children with his ex-wife, Kandilyn Harris. He's currently married to Karen Randall.
Donny, born on 9 December 1957, is undoubtedly the most famous Osmond brother. His net worth is estimated between $8 million (£6.4m) and $18 million (£14.4m).
Donny made his singing debut on The Andy Williams Show in 1963 at just five years old, wowing with his adorable rendition of You Are My Sunshine.
He later joined the family band, and with the addition of Donny, the group became known as The Osmonds.
Donny launched a successful solo career in 1971 with the release of The Donny Osmond Album. To date, he's released 18 studio albums. His latest offering, Start Again, was released in 2021.
Donny and his younger sister Marie had an 11-year residency at the swanky Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, though their 1,730-show run finally came to an end in November 2019.
Donny and Marie each took home $1.6 million (£1.3m) per year for the lucrative residency, plus a 40% cut of the box office gross.
Donny has also found success as an actor on both stage and screen. His screen credits include roles in the popular sitcom Friends, the medical drama Diagnosis: Murder, and the comedy movie College Road Trip. Furthermore, he’s lent his voice to several animated projects, such as Johnny Bravo and Disney’s Mulan.
He's graced the stage in productions like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Beauty and the Beast, with his stellar performance as Joseph in the former earning him the starring role in the 1999 film adaptation of the popular musical (pictured). He later returned to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, appearing in the UK version of the stage play as the character Pharaoh.
Donny shares five children with his wife, Debra Glen. The family lives in a lavish mansion in Utah.
Born on 13 October 1959, Marie is the second-youngest Osmond sibling and the only sister in the clan. Her estimated net worth is a phenomenal $20 million (£16m).
Though she wasn’t a member of The Osmonds, Marie still appeared on The Andy Williams Show with her famous family during her childhood.
She went on to achieve solo success as a country singer with the release of her debut single, Paper Roses, in 1973. Her biggest hits include Read My Lips, You’re Still New to Me, and There’s No Stopping Your Heart.
Marie has released 12 studio albums, with her latest being 2021’s Unexpected. As mentioned, she also profited from a lucrative 11-year residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino alongside Donny.
Marie’s TV career officially began in 1976, when she starred in the variety show Donny & Marie, alongside Donny (pictured together). Donny & Marie was later relaunched as a talk show that aired between 1998 and 2000.
In 2019, Marie joined the panel of ABC's The Talk. However, she left the popular chat show after just one season, amid rumours of a feud with her co-hosts Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood.
Marie has further boosted her bank balance with acting roles and has appeared in a diverse range of TV projects over the years, including the romance movie The Gift of Love (1978), the period piece I Married Wyatt Earp (1983), and the TV show Fantasy Island (2023).
She's also lent her voice to projects like the kids series Enchanted Musical Playhouse, and hosted Ripley's Believe It or Not!.
The multi-talented Marie is an author with three best-selling books under her belt. Her first, 2001's Behind the Smile: My Journey Out, discussed her struggle with postpartum depression (pictured).
This was followed up by her autobiography, Might as Well Laugh About it Now, in 2009. Four years later, she released The Key is Love: My Mother's Wisdom, a Daughter's Gratitude.
Marie is married to Steve Craig and shares a son, Stephen Jr., with him. She also has children Jessica, Rachael, Brianna, Matthew, Brandon, and Abigail, as well as a son named Michael Bryan, who passed away in 2010, with her ex-husband Brian Blosil. She currently resides in a lavish mountainside mansion in Utah.
Born on 16 April 1963, Jimmy is the youngest Osmond sibling. His estimated net worth is a cool $8 million (£6.4m). Known back then as 'Little Jimmy Osmond', the former child star made his debut on The Andy Williams Show in 1967.
Though he’s performed with The Osmonds over the years, Jimmy is best known for his solo career. He impressively achieved his first gold record when he was seven with his Japanese rendition of My Little Darling.
His song Long Haired Lover from Liverpool, released when he was just nine, scored him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest performer to have a number one hit on the UK Singles Charts.
As a solo star, Jimmy has six gold records, one platinum record, and two gold albums under his belt. His biggest hits include Tweedle Dee and I’m Gonna Knock On Your Door.
Like many of his siblings, Jimmy has found success on the screen. He made his acting debut in the 1978 comedy flick The Great Brain, with other acting credits including TV shows Fame and The Love Boat.
Like his older brother Donny, Jimmy is a bona fide stage star, and he owns the Osmond Family Theater in Branson, Missouri. He made his stage debut in 2004 in a production of Boogie Nights in Blackpool, England.
The following year, he brought his Jimmy Osmond’s American Jukebox Show to Blackpool, where he was joined on stage by brothers Jay and Wayne.
He’s also starred in productions of Grease and Chicago, and in 2008 he made his British pantomime debut starring as Buttons in Cinderella.
Over the years, Jimmy has lined his pockets by appearing on several British reality TV shows.
Most famously, he was a campmate on the popular survival series I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2005.
Jimmy married Michelle Larson in 1992, and they have four kids together: Sophia, Zachary, Wyatt, and Isabella. Like much of the rest of his famous family, Jimmy has settled down in Utah.
