Rancho La Puerta sits in a valley at the base of Mount Kuchumaa, near the small town of Tecate, Mexico.

Rancho La Puerta provides wellness experiences for guests to achieve spiritual mental escapes, and relax their bodies. The fitness resort and spa has 3,000 acres of private gardens, mountains and meadows.

The ranch offers over 80 fitness classes including TRX, yoga, pilates, Watsu and advanced hiking trails as well as spa treatments and therapeutic sessions.

Starting rates for the experience are $3,200 (£2,231) for a triple, $3,400 (£2,371) for a double and $3,900 (£2,720) for a single. A Hacienda double room with a bedroom, sitting area, bathroom and fireplace will cost $3,800 (£2,649) per person for a week's stay.

Clinique La Prairie is not your average spa. Aside from the usual massages, it offers speciality programs to improve physical health.

The clinic is known for skin revitalisation therapy – such as a cellular regenerating body experience which is said to hydrate and relax the whole body – as well as for its beauty facilities and medical and health spa. Medical treatments include cardiology, dermatology surgery and laser treatments.

The clinic offers six-night packages such as the Medical Check-up program which costs $17,350 (£12,101). This promises a complete evaluation of your health by a medical professional. You can also have radiology, ageing and weight management treatments, as well as access to sleep centers and medical check-ups.

The most expensive package is the Revitalisation program starting at $26,289 (£18,335) for a six-day stay. The first two days of the program are dedicated to complete medical check-ups, and end with personalized advice and instructions designed to maintain the health, wellness and quality of life gained during the program.

The D-Hotel Maris is built high on a hillside at the edge of the Datca peninsula, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Aegean. The high location ensures views of the private bay below the hotel where clear blue sea awaits.

Prices at the D-Maris start from $376 (£262) per night based on two sharing a deluxe mountain view room. If you want to add some excitement to your trip, you can charter the hotel’s helicopter and crew from about $5,353 (£3,733) per day.

Some of the most popular treatments at the spa include the “from the sea” cellulite treatment, which is a combination of a deep, draining massage with essential oils and algae which is said to have a toning effect, as well as the detox massage for a full body treatment.

Gstaad Palace is a five-star turreted hotel with mountain views of the Swiss Alps, access to the Gstaad BDGAG-Ige ski lift and, of course, its very own Gstaad Palace Spa.

The spa’s signature treatment is the Hammam Experience, which is described as a true haven of peace. It starts with a foot bath and steam room, followed by a relax in the “Infinity Room” and then a total body scrub. The Hammam Experience for two (price per person), which lasts two hours, costs $297 (£207), or $396 (£276) for one person.

The spa's oxygen treatments are said to have "immediate results" on the body. The treatments encourage the natural production of collagen and elastin in the body. The 80-minute long oxygen anti-cellulite and toning treatment costs $503 (£351). Or you could have a body scrub and massage, then relax in your own private SPA suite for two people at $616 (£430) for three hours.

The most expensive room at Gstaad Palace is a penthouse suite which has three bedrooms, a living room, roof terrace and panoramic view. It's priced at $8,905 (£6,209) per night in the summer season.

The exclusive Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort offers you a tropical island getaway, with tropical gardens, "unparalleled" sea views and an array of sea and land activities all located on the Domaine de Bel Ombre in the south of Mauritius.

The Seven Colours Millesime Collection Spa offers a range of massages suitable for everyone. These include mother-to-be massages, gentlemen's facials as well as full day packages. The Couple Spa suite experience allows couples to enjoy the experience together in a private relaxation area, and access to their own outdoor bath.

The starting rate for Heritage Le Telfair begins at $372 (£260) per night for a Deluxe Room with breakfast (based on two people sharing), while Ocean View suite rooms go up to $565 (£395) per night, with breakfast included and is based on two people sharing.

Shanti Som is described as a Spa Hotel with the luxury of a boutique hotel. Shanti-Som Wellbeing Retreat is located close to Sierra de las Nieves Nature Park and Biosphere Reserve in Marbella, Spain.

Or a Deluxe Parkview Room, which has a King bed, access to the club lounge, afternoon tea and complimentary cocktails starts at around $1,432 (£998) per night.

If you feel like your skin needs a little bit of TLC during your stay you could have the caviar luxury massage! You can indulge with Skin Caviar Luxe Cream during a 60-minute massage, followed by a 90 minute Ultimate Caviar Lift Facial which costs $550 (£383) for 2.5 hours. Or you could have the ultimate white caviar illuminating facial which will cost $1,250 (£872) for the 90-minute experience. The added benefit is the gold caviar extracts!

Antara Palace has six suites and a two-bedroom Presidential Suite, spa facilities, indoor and outdoor pools and more. The Palace offers holiday stays, but also wellness breaks dealing with stress management, digestive health, women's health and relaxation.

The spa offers a wide range of treatments, from signature treatments such as the Spring Spirit or Antioxidant Autumn, both priced at $281 (£196) for a 100-minute session. Or for some added luxury you could have an initiation into Valmont skin care, which is a mixture of four treatments which last three hours 15 minutes in total and include body exfoliation, body sculpting massage, and nature intense hydration rituals. That's priced at $542 (£378).

Fifteen people can stay at Antara Palace for a minimum of two nights. The starting daily rate is $8,496 (£5,924) in the low season and $13,026 (£9,083) per night in the high summer season.
