David Beckham: soccer star

David Beckham was just 17 years old when he made his professional soccer debut with Manchester United in 1992.
He played for the team for an epic nine seasons, during which they won the Premier League six times, the FA Cup twice, and the UEFA Champions League once.
The legendary midfielder became the highest-paid soccer star in the world in 2003. At the time, his estimated yearly salary was reported to be £10.5 million, an impressive £22 million ($28m) in today's money.
David Beckham: lucrative sports contracts

Manchester United sold Beckham to Spanish team Real Madrid in 2003, although the biggest payday of his sporting career came when he signed a five-year contract worth $250 million with the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007. That’s the equivalent of an incredible $379 million (£299m) in today's money.
Throughout his iconic career, Beckham also played for European teams AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain and captained the English football team between 2000 and 2006.
It’s estimated that Beckham had banked $800 million from the sport by the time he retired in 2013, a staggering $1.1 billion (£869m)in 2024 money.
David Beckham: juicy endorsement deals

Off the pitch, the sought-after star has raked it in over the years thanks to endorsement deals with brands such as Pepsi, Vodafone, Gillette, and luxury watchmaker Tudor.
Beckham’s juiciest deal came when he signed a lifetime contract with Adidas in 2003, earning $160 million, or around $273 million (£216m) today. At the time it was one of the biggest sponsorship deals in sporting history.
David Beckham: underwear model of the century

Arguably as famous for his striking good looks as he is for his soccer skills, Beckham has further boosted his fortune by modelling. He’s worked with brands that range from affordable clothing retailer H&M to luxury Italian fashion house Armani.
He was reportedly paid $39 million to model underwear for Armani in 2007, the equivalent of around $59 million (£47m) today. His sizzling campaign certainly left a lasting impression, with fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger declaring to TMZ that Beckham was the "underwear model of the century".
Beckham's most recent modelling gig saw him feature in Hugo Boss' 2024 autumn/winter campaign alongside supermodels Gisele Bündchen and Naomi Campbell.
David Beckham: business brains

Beckham is a founding partner of the whisky brand Haig Club. His stake in the business, which is owned by liqueur giant Diageo, is estimated to be worth $50 million (£39m).
However, in March 2023 it was announced that Beckham would end his decade-long partnership with Haig Club to pursue his own drinks brand.
Beckham set up DB Ventures in 2014 to manage his post-soccer career activities, including the aforementioned endorsement deals and whisky brand. In 2022, he sold a 55% stake in DB Ventures to the American firm Authentic Brands Group, which owns companies such as Reebok and Juicy Couture. The football legend, who still owns 45% of the company, reportedly banked £200 million ($253m) from the sale.
David Beckham: Inter Miami

When Beckham signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007, his contract included the option to purchase an expansion team for $25 million, the equivalent of $38m (£30m) in today's money.
The business-savvy star announced in 2014 that he'd be starting his own franchise in Miami along with other investors.
Inter Miami joined Major League Soccer in 2020 and, according to Kona Equity, is achieving annual revenues of $50 million (£39m). The club's income surged following the 2023 signing of World Cup winner Lionel Messi.
David Beckham: controversial Qatar payday

The sports star received a huge payday when he inked a 10-year deal to become a tourism ambassador to Qatar in 2021.
The juggernaut deal reportedly pays out $21 million (£17m) annually and is worth a minimum of $210 million (£166m) over the course of the decade, though some sources claim it's worth closer to $280 million (£221m).
However, Beckham faced a backlash for accepting the offer from the Middle Eastern country, which has come under fire for its mistreatment of migrant workers and its harsh anti-LGBTQ laws.
Netflix docuseries

In October 2023, the hotly-anticipated BECKHAM docuseries dropped on Netflix, offering fans an unprecedented glimpse into his extraordinary life and career. The four-part documentary featured a slew of famous faces, including his wife Victoria Beckham, Spice Girl Mel C, former football manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and soccer star Rio Ferdinand.
Beckham told Netflix of his series: "It’s not just about my football career; it’s about my family; it’s about being married to a Spice Girl; and it's about my journey, really. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions, but it’s been special making it.”
Beckham and his family are pictured here attending the premiere of BECKHAM.
Now let's take a look at how Victoria Beckham makes her money...
Victoria Beckham: Posh Spice

Victoria Adams rose to fame as one-fifth of the Spice Girls, the British girl band that was formed in 1994. Because of her refined attitude and love of designer outfits, she was nicknamed "Posh Spice" by the British tabloid press.
The group achieved global fame after releasing their debut single Wannabe in 1996. The catchy tune skyrocketed to the number-one spot on music charts around the world, including in the UK, the USA, and Australia.
A slew of other hits followed, such as Stop, 2 Become 1, Viva Forever, and Spice Up Your Life. Today, the Spice Girls have sold over 80 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling female group of all time.
Victoria Beckham: solo star

The Spice Girls stunned fans when they announced that the group was going on indefinite hiatus in 2000. Shortly after, Victoria collaborated on Out of Your Mind with True Steppers and Dane Bowers, with the dance anthem reaching the number two spot on the UK Singles Chart.
Victoria dropped her eponymous debut album the following year. The record failed to cause a stir, peaking at number 10 on the UK album charts and marking the end of her short-lived solo career.
Victoria Beckham: The Spice Girls reunite

The Spice Girls released their Greatest Hits album in 2007 and announced plans to reunite for a world tour that same year.
The Europe and US tour is estimated to have generated over $70 million – or around $102 million (£81m) in today’s money – making it the eighth-highest-grossing concert tour of 2008.
When the band reunited again in 2019 Victoria declined to get involved. However, she still made around $2.5 million (£2m) from the Spice Girls reunion. Technically, she was still a member of the band and was entitled to a cut of the profits from the licensing deals, merchandise, and endorsements generated by the tour.
Victoria Beckham: model moves

Victoria has further boosted her bank balance by modelling. Over the years, the stunning star has graced the covers of fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle.
Following in the footsteps of her husband David, she also fronted an underwear campaign for luxury fashion house Armani in 2009.
Victoria Beckham: savvy side-hustles

Victoria has published two books. Her first offering was the autobiographical Learning to Fly, released in 2001. This was followed by the fashion guide That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels, and Everything in Between, which first hit bookshelves in 2006.
Writing isn’t her only side hustle. She also launched a signature fragrance line with David in 2008.
Victoria Beckham: fashion flop?

Victoria is probably best known today for her eponymous fashion line. Her designs are a staple on Fashion Week runways around the globe, with her pieces worn by stars including Beyoncé and Kate Middleton. However, the venture isn’t the money-maker you might think...
Accounts revealed the fashion line lost almost $7 million (£5.9m) in 2021 and $11 million (£8.6m) in 2020. In fact, the business has recorded losses of around $82 million (£66m) since its 2008 launch.
It's also been reported that the fashion line racked up debts of $67 million (£53m) to lenders following the pandemic's strain on the retail industry.
Victoria Beckham: fashion flop?

Despite claims that the brand turned a corner last year, the most recent accounts reveal that the business actually lost $3.9 million (£3m) in 2023. As a result, the Beckhams and shareholders injected $9 million (£6.9m) into the business in the 2024 financial year.
Sales have risen recently, with revenues jumping by 52% to $117 million (£89.1m) in 2023, mainly due to the success of Victoria's makeup and perfume lines.
Shareholders remain positive that the business can turn a profit in the future, with the chief executive of Victoria Beckham Ltd, Marie Leblanc, stating: “Having successfully repositioned the business, 2023 was another very strong year of progress for the company, and we continue to see a healthy growth trajectory as we look to establish Victoria Beckham as a global luxury house."
Star-studded Super Bowl ad

Victoria and David recently teamed up to star in a comical advertisement for Uber Eats, which debuted during the 2024 Super Bowl.
The star-studded ad also features Friends alums David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston, R&B star Usher, and country singer Jelly Roll.
It's unknown how much the Beckhams were paid for their appearance, though reports suggest that securing an advertising slot for this year's Super Bowl cost upwards of $7 million (£5.5m).
Now let's take a look at how David and Victoria spend their millions...
Fairy tale wedding

When David and Victoria Beckham tied the knot in 1999 their lavish nuptials cost $1.2 million, the equivalent of around $2.3 million (£1.8m) in today's money.
Reportedly themed around Robin Hood, the nuptials took place at the stunning Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland. Victoria’s custom-made Vera Wang bridal gown is said to have cost $100,000, a cool $188,000 (£148k) when factoring in inflation.
Despite the outlandish expense, just 29 close family members and friends attended the wedding. Famous faces among the congregation included Emma Bunton, Mel C, and Mel B from the Spice Girls, while English soccer star Gary Neville was David's best man.
Beckingham Palace

Shortly after tying the knot, David and Victoria snapped up a sprawling Georgian mansion in the English countryside for a reported $4.1 million, which is $7.7 million (£6.1m) in today's money.
Dubbed "Beckingham Palace", the lavish abode (pictured) boasted a recording studio, an indoor pool, a snooker room, and a gym, while the surrounding grounds were home to a woodland chapel, a playground, and a tented soccer pitch.
The couple sold the property in 2014 for a tidy profit after it fetched an impressive $19 million, equivalent to around $25 million (£20m) today.
Global property portfolio

Today, David and Victoria own several lavish properties around the globe.
Among them are a chic mansion in London’s swish Holland Park neighbourhood, which they snapped up for $39 million in 2013 ($53m/£42m today), and a regal country estate in the Cotswolds.
Stateside, David and Victoria own a $24 million (£19m) Miami penthouse. It boasts a rooftop helipad and a home gym, as well as multiple terraces that offer stunning views across the nearby city skyline and ocean.

Now let's explore how the Beckham children make their money...
Brooklyn Beckham

Born on 4 March 1999, Brooklyn Beckham is the firstborn son of Victoria and David.
Brooklyn is estimated to be worth a cool $10 million (£7.9m) – so how does the eldest Beckham heir make his megabucks?
Brooklyn Beckham: photographer

Brooklyn briefly studied photography at the Parsons School of Design in New York, and released the photography book What I See in 2017.
Marketed as "a glimpse behind the scenes into the life of Brooklyn Beckham through his own words and featuring a highly curated collection of his own photographs", the book featured around 300 of his pictures.
However, critics ripped the tome to shreds, making fun of the low-quality and out-of-focus photographs.
Brooklyn Beckham: model

Brooklyn has been modelling since 2014 and has posed for titles such as Interview, Vogue China, and The New York Times Style Magazine. Most notably, Brooklyn modelled for Burberry when he was 16, and was also hired to shoot a fashion campaign for the luxury British fashion brand.
However, this particular appointment sparked backlash, with fashion photographer Chris Floyd telling The Guardian: "David and Victoria Beckham represent sheer willpower and graft. Especially her; she’s climbed that mountain all by herself. They represent hard work, and then their 16-year-old son comes along, and it’s sheer nepotism. He hasn’t done it through hard work, which is counter-intuitive to what his parents represent."
Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey defended the decision to hire Brooklyn, however, stating: "Brooklyn has a really great eye for image, and Instagram works brilliantly for him as a platform to showcase his work. His style and attitude were exactly what we wanted to capture the spirit of this new fragrance campaign."
Brooklyn Beckham: chef

After taking up cooking as a hobby during the COVID-19 lockdown, Brooklyn launched the web series Cookin’ With Brooklyn in 2021.
Each eight-minute episode cost around $100,000 (£79k) to create, with a production team of 62 professionals involved, according to the New York Post.
Though critics have panned the show, the first episode still achieved over one million viewers on Facebook Watch. Brooklyn has faced further criticism for referring to himself as a chef, despite having no professional culinary experience.
Brooklyn Beckham: lavish wedding

Brooklyn married the actress Nicola Peltz in 2022 (pictured together). Nicola is the daughter of American businessman Nelson Peltz, who has a net worth of $1.6 billion (£1.3bn), according to Forbes.
The wealthy young couple reportedly spent an incredible $3 million (£2.4m) on their wedding, which was held at the lavish $103 million (£81m) Peltz family estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
Unlike Victoria and David’s intimate ceremony, the Peltz-Beckham nuptials were attended by around 500 guests, including the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Eva Longoria, and Serena Williams.
Brooklyn Beckham: swish supercar

Brooklyn was spotted behind the wheel of a swish McLaren P1 supercar, similar to the model shown here, in 2022.
The young star, who was interviewed by social media star Daniel Mac, seemed to suggest he was able to afford the flashy vehicle due to his work as a chef, though speculation is rife that he actually borrowed the car from his dad.
Romeo Beckham

Born on 1 September 2002, Romeo Beckham is the second child of David and Victoria.
Romeo has an estimated net worth of $5 million (£4m). So how does the young star make his money?
Romeo Beckham: soccer career

Following in his father’s footballing footsteps, Romeo has attempted to carve out a soccer career.
He joined the English Premier League’s Brentford B team on a loan deal from American soccer team Inter Miami CF II. The deal was made permanent last summer, with the midfielder signing a one-year contract. However, recent reports claim Romeo has since turned his back on football to pursue a career in fashion...
Romeo Beckham: model

Romeo is a dead ringer for his parents, so it’s no surprise he’s scored several high-profile modelling jobs.
He starred in his first major campaign for Burberry at just 12 years old, with the Christmas advert he filmed for the heritage British fashion brand going viral on Twitter.
More recently, Romeo has modelled for luxury fashion house YSL and graced the cover of the prestigious magazine L’Uomo Vogue.
Cruz Beckham

Born on 20 February 2005, Cruz is the third-born Beckham child.
His net worth is currently unknown, with online estimates ranging from $5 million (£4m) to $13 million (£10m).
Cruz Beckham: future pop star?

While Romeo has attempted to follow in his father’s footsteps, Cruz takes after his mother.
The teen is gearing up to launch his music career later this year after working with a top-tier songwriting team that's created hits for stars such as One Direction, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Ed Sheeran.
They added: “There is a lot of excitement around him as a singer, but he is also acutely aware that he really needs to prove himself so he isn't just accused of being a nepotism baby, which is why he has spent so long perfecting the music."
Harper Beckham

Born on 10 July 2011, Harper is the youngest member of the Beckham brood, as well as David and Victoria’s only daughter.
Harper is just 13 years old, so it remains to be seen if her career will centre around sport, music, fashion, photography – or something else entirely. However, she recently appeared on her mum's social media feed promoting some of Victoria's fragrances. Watch this space…
