New York: one-bedroom apartment

One Museum Mile via cityrealty.com

Though its floorspace might be limited, its high ceilings and big windows make it look a bit more spacious. It's located in East Harlem, an up and coming area, slightly removed from the hubbub of Midtown, but it's on the edge of Central Park and within walking distance from great public transport.

The downside is that residents have to pay a building service charge to fund all these luxuries.
