Drivers of innovation, these companies have wasted no time cornering their chosen market and have significantly disrupted their respective industry. Prepare to be impressed as we reveal the 25 fastest-growing fledgling firms, based on average revenue growth per year over the past three to four years.
Forward Financing: average annual revenue growth of 4,298%
Alternative small business finance is a growing industry and Boston's Forward Financing is at the forefront of the trend. Established in 2012, the company, which has already funded 3,000 small businesses, has seen its revenues soar by 4,298% a year on average.
DashBid: average annual revenue growth of 4,326%
This dynamic online video advertising platform, which has only been around since 2010, is growing by 4,326% on average year on year. Hailing from New York, the company has 30 employees and counting, and is currently turning over a tidy $28.3 million (£21.3m) annually.
Cylance: average annual revenue growth of 4,352%
Shaking up the cybersecurity industry, California's Cylance makes innovative anti-virus software that prevents rather than merely detects infections. Established in 2012, Cylance, which turns over $45.1 million (£33.9m) a year, is the first firm to apply algorithms, AI and automation to cybersecurity.
iSpot.TV: average annual revenue growth of 4,441%
iSpot.TV provides real-time TV ad data and analytics, and has fast established itself as a leader in the field. The company, which was founded in 2011, is headquartered in Washington State and has around 60 employees, though it will no doubt be hiring additional staff given its impressive revenue growth.
Adva-Net: average annual revenue growth of 4,487%
This Florida-based healthcare company delivers a variety of aftercare services for patients who are filing compensation claims. Set up in 2012, the start-up is growing by 4,487% year on year and is now turning over $24.4 million (£18.3m).
ShipHawk: average annual revenue growth of 4,546%
Another industry-disrupting firm, ShipHawk is a smart platform from California that uses state-of-the-art transportation management software to reduce shipping costs for retailers. The company, which was founded in 2012, is currently generating a turnover of $13.1 million (£9.8m) a year and rising.
Single Serve Beverage Distribution: average annual revenue growth of 4,580%
This New Jersey firm may not have the sexiest of names, but its growth figures are seriously attractive. Capitalising on the trend for single serve beverage pods, the company, which was founded in 2012, distributes individual pod servings of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and so on.
SalesLoft: average annual revenue growth of 4,586%
Expanding at a speedy rate, SalesLoft is an Atlanta-based sales engagement platform that is changing the way businesses organise their sales. Since its launch in 2011, the platform has gone from strength to strength and now boasts 148 staff.
FormulaFolio Investments: average annual revenue growth of 4,642%
It's all about algorithms these days, and FormulaFolio Investments has developed an algorithm-based platform that is changing the way investment managers look after their clients' capital. Set up in 2011, the Grand Rapids firm now manages $2.1 billion (£1.6bn) in assets.
Prodigy Game: average annual revenue growth of 4,733%
The world's fastest-growing firms aren't all in the USA. Over the border in Canada, Prodigy Game is experiencing stellar growth. The Ontario-headquartered mathematics learning platform has only been in business for a few years but already counts over 20 million users.
Greenspire: average annual revenue growth of 4,810%
This Los Angeles-based company works closely with its clients to give their homes an eco, energy-saving makeover, providing everything from solar panels to smart automation. Founded in 2012, Greenspire's revenues are growing by an average of 4,810% per year, hitting $41.7 million (£31.3m) last year.
Liftoff: average annual revenue growth of 5,660%
Liftoff is a mobile marketing platform targeting people via apps that works on a commission basis. The company was founded in Silicon Valley in 2012 and has pretty much cornered its niche market, pulling in revenues of $59.6 million (£44.8m) in 2016.
AutomotiveMastermind: annual average revenue growth of 5,892%
As this round-up shows, it pays to be innovative. New York's AutomativeMastermind was set up in 2012 to provide predictive analytics and marketing automation technology for the auto industry, and the company hasn't looked back, growing in revenue terms by an average of 5,892% a year.
Small Business Owners of America (SBOOA): average annual revenue growth of 6,451%
Not to be confused with the Small Business Association of America, this Ohio-based start-up provides loans and support to burgeoning businesses that may struggle to get credit from a conventional bank. Since its founding in 2011, SBOOA has grown 6,451% a year on average.
Halo Top Creamery: average annual revenue growth of 6,981%
Time magazine has deemed this virtuous low fat, low sugar, high protein ice cream from Los Angeles one of the 25 best inventions of 2017. Needless to say, Halo Top Creamery ice cream has been flying off the shelves, and the company that makes the stuff is growing by 6,981% a year.
Club Pilates Franchise: average annual revenue growth of 7,106%
This Californian-based pilates firm has franchised its model globally and developed a highly-regarded, super-successful teacher training programme. Buoyed on by the increasing popularity of pilates, the franchise business has seen its revenues rise by an average of 7,106% a year since 2013.
Aratana Therapeutics: average annual revenue growth of 10,414%
Founded in 2010, this Kansas pet healthcare firm is a pioneer in the field. Fast-growing Aratana Therapeutics is applying human drugs to animal treatment, and has already had three therapies approved by the FDA, and more than 10 are in the pipeline.
Toast: average annual revenue growth of 10,417%
Toast is a firm that develops Android mobile-friendly online ordering software for restaurants, bakeries, cafés and similar businesses. Since 2013, the Boston start-up has posted revenue growth averaging 10,417% a year.
Gametime: average annual revenue growth of 11,340%
An increasingly downloaded app that allows users to buy last-minute tickets for nearby events, Gametime was founded in San Francisco in 2013. As investors throw money at the company, Gametime revenues are growing by 11,340% on average, topping $48.8 million (£36.7m) last year.
EnviroSolar Power: average annual revenue growth of 12,022%
Texas' EnviroSolar Power is another renewable energy-related company that makes this round-up. The company, which provides and looks after solar panel services for both business and residential customers, is expanding revenue-wise by 12,022% a year on average.
ClassPass: average annual revenue growth of 15,519%
This fitness start-up was founded in New York in 2013 and is now the world's largest membership-based fitness network, with over 8,000 partners in 39 cities around the world. The rapidly-expanding company offers its members access to a wealth of local fitness studio classes.
Skillz: average annual revenue growth of 16,686%
A major hit from the get-go, this mobile game streaming and competition platform has attracted legions of users since its launch in 2012. San Francisco-based Skillz now boasts millions of active users and average annual revenues of $54.2 million (£40.7m).
Donuts: annual average revenues of 19,968%
The fastest-growing US firm, Donuts was set up in 2010 to run the new crop of generic top-level domains, and the increasing uptake of these novel domains has fuelled spectacular growth in the company, which has seen its revenues surge by 19,968% a year on average.
Diply: average annual revenue growth of 23,220%
Canada's Diply is the fastest-growing website in US history and the fastest-growing firm in North America. The Ontario-based entertainment site, which launched in 2013, publishes shareable lifestyle and pop culture content aimed at millennials.
Deliveroo: average annual revenue growth of 26,779%
Drum roll please, the planet's hottest, fastest-growing start-up is none other than British online food delivery firm Deliveroo. Founded in 2013, the firm has expanded to 150 cities worldwide and was recently valued at a cool $2 billion (£1.5bn).
