The top 10 most wanted Christmas presents
Find out where to get the most wanted Christmas gifts at the best prices...
It’s that time of year again when you have to think about what to get your loved ones for Christmas. Personally, I love everything about Christmas, but for many people, the thought of having to hit the shops to buy a variety of gifts is enough to make them want to stay in bed for the whole of December.
So with Christmas only three weeks away, I’m going to give you a helping hand and reveal the top 10 most popular Christmas presents according to Kelkoo, as well as show you where to get them at the cheapest prices. To do this, I’ll be using shopbots Kelkoo, Invisible Hand, Sccope and Pricerunner.
Note that all prices were correct at the time of writing, but may have since changed.
1) Amazon Kindle
If there’s someone in your family who’s a fan of reading but isn’t so keen on carrying around a hefty book on their commute to work, an Amazon Kindle might be right up their street.
This handy wireless reading device allows you to store up to 3,500 books and means you can even read in bright sunlight as there’s no glare. It also has a battery life of one month.
So if you fancy getting your hands on one, head over to (yes, you’ve guessed it) Amazon, where you can pick one up for £109.
2) iPod Nano 16GB
If you know someone who can’t live without their iPod, this latest model might well be on their Christmas list.
It’s been redesigned for music and multi-touch and is smaller and lighter than ever. It allows you to clip it onto your sleeve, jacket or running shorts and includes a built-in FM radio, pedometer and more. It also comes in six colours.
So if you want to put one in someone’s Christmas stocking this year, Argos, Amazon and HMV are all selling it for £143 – that’s £16 off the RRP.
3) iPhone 3GS 8GB pay as you go
Mobile phones have come on a long way since the big brick I used to carry around. These days, your mobile phone can do just about anything. And this latest model of the iPhone is the fastest and most powerful one yet!
Unfortunately, due to its popularity, many retailers have already sold out. Tesco Direct and Vodafone, for example, had been offering the iPhone at the top price of £385. However, it’s now out of stock so you’ll have to head over to Amazon instead where you can pick up a SIM free iPhone for the slightly higher price of £419 – but hurry as stocks are low!

4) Sony Bravia 32-inch Widescreen TV with Digital Freeview
Most desired product number four is a Sony Bravia 32-inch widescreen TV – or more specifically, the Sony Bravia KDL32EX401U. This TV has fantastic sound and picture quality and if you use the Light Sensor, it will automatically detect the brightness of the room and optimise the picture for best viewing results.
So if you fancy a new TV for all your Christmas viewing, you can pick it up for £349.99 at both Dixons and Amazon (RRP £499.99). Play.com is offering it for slightly more at £369.99.
5) Canon Digital IXUS 130
If you have a budding photographer in the family, this stylish camera is bound to do the trick! The ultra-thin camera is easy to use and has high image quality. It also comes in four colours – silver, black, orange and pink.
For the best prices, head over to Pixmania.com where you can pick up the black version for £124.90, and the silver and orange versions for £131. The pink version will cost you slightly more at £140.89. These prices all compare favourably to the RRP of £279.10.
6) Vtech Kidizoom video camera
For the younger photographers in your family, the Vtech Kidizoom video camera might be more appropriate. This funky camera allows the kids to record videos, take photos and edit their creations!
It also features face-tracking technology so the kids can add moving animations to a moving picture. And they can also add movie-style openings and funny stamps and borders to their movies.
You can pick up the pink version for the top price of £39.99 (RRP £59.99) at Toys R US . Amazon is offering it for slightly more at £41.99, but this includes free shipping. And if you want the blue version, Amazon has the best price at £42.99.
7) Sony VAIO EB3J0E/WI Laptop
In seventh place is the Sony VAIO EB3JOE laptop which has an LCD screen and an integrated webcam with face recognition technology. It also comes in a range of colours.
So if you know of someone who’d like to find one under the Christmas tree, the cheapest one you’ll currently find is at dabs.com or BT Shop where it will cost you £549.51 (RRP £559.99).
Christmas is a dangerous time of year – dangerous for your bank balance. It’s so easy to get carried away and spend too much. Then you’ll be lumbered with a pile of debt as you start the new year.
8) Samsung Galaxy Tab 16GB
Gadgets continue to feature heavily in this list, with the eighth most wanted present according to Kelkoo being the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
This fantastic device features a touch screen, two cameras, wi-fi surfing and much much more. To get your hands on this brilliant gadget, check out Amazon, Currys, and PC World – all of which are offering it for £448.99 – that’s a saving of a massive £351!
9) iPad 16GB Wi-Fi
Launched in May this year, the Apple iPad has been highly popular. So it’s no surprise that it’s on many people’s Christmas lists.
If you’re not sure whether Santa will be generous enough to bring you one, you can currently get your hands on one for £417.11 at Insight. Alternatively, you can pay £429 at PC World, Comet, Play.com, HMV, Currys and John Lewis.
10) Nintendo Wii Console (Black) with Wii Fit Plus and Balance Board and Motion Plus Controller
The Nintendo Wii was number one in the popularity stakes last Christmas, and this year it’s also expected to be popular thanks to this latest release (although take note that it’s not released until Friday 3 December).
The new version is a great way to have some fun while also keeping fit! It comes with over 60 activities including games to improve your balance, strength training exercises and yoga based activities.
The cheapest place I found this brilliant gift was at Amazon which is offering it for £179.99 – a saving of £20.
Happy shopping!
