The best January detox bargains!
Looking to become a little healthier this year? Here are some top bargains to get you started...
January is typically a month when many of us decide to detox. Too much alcohol and a never-ending supply of chocolates and mince pies can leave us feeling bloated and overweight.
Yet trying to shift some of that weight and eat more healthily can be very expensive. So if you are trying to detox, here are some great bargains to give you a helping hand.
Food-related bargains
If your first aim of the year is to eat more healthily, a vegetable steamer might come in handy! Amazon has some great offers, such as this Three Tier Stainless Steel Multi Steamer Pan for £19.99 and this Russell Hobbs Three Tier White Food Steamer for half-price at £22.49.
Making smoothies is also a good way to stay healthy, and you can pick up this Cookworks Smoothie Maker for £11.49 at Argos (RRP £14.49), or this Breville Easy Clean Smoothie Maker has more than £19 off at £20.42.
And if you need some inspiration in the kitchen, why not hunt out a healthy recipe book? This Easy Healthy Recipe Book is just £3.50 at M&S and 101 Healthy Eats is only £3.34 at Pickabook.co.uk.
Meanwhile, if you need some smoothie recipes to go with your smoothie maker, the Innocent Smoothie Recipe Book is now £7.42 (RRP £12.99) at The Book Depository.
Fitness equipment
If your main target is to get ultra fit this month, you’ll be pleased to hear that Amazon is offering up to 50% off in its sports and leisure department.
So if you’re after some great fitness equipment, but you’re concerned about storage space, this Foldable Exercise Bike is now £69.99, saving you £80. Or if you’d prefer to get your hands on a cross trainer, this Confidence Elliptical Cross Trainer has £120 off at £69.99.
Argos also has some great deals, such as this Pro Fitness Folding Manual Treadmill which has 25% off at £59.95. It’s perfect if space at home is lacking!
And for those of you looking to do some weight training, this York Cast Iron Kit in a Case is now £32.99 at Amazon (RRP £65.80), while the serious trainer might prefer this Marcy Bench and Weight Set for £79.99 at Argos, saving you £69.
Don’t forget, however, community freebie sites such as Freegle, Freecycle and SnaffleUp are often packed full of unwanted fitness gear that you may be able to pick up absolutely free!

Fitness footwear and clothing
For footwear, make sure you check out the sale at Sports Direct. For example, these Hi Tec Men’s Running Shoes are just £18 (RRP £24.99), while these Fila Turin Ladies’ Running Trainers are £19.99 (£39.99).
Meanwhile, for clothing, these Slazenger SL Woven Men’s Shorts are now just £3, reduced from £12! And this LA Gear Muscle Ladies’ Vest is a mere £4, down from £19.99! There are many more bargains at Sports Direct, so it’s definitely well worth having a browse.
There’s also up to 50% off in the sale at Sweaty Betty. So this Hi-Energy Tank is now £30, down from £60, and these Freedom Velour Sweat Pants are also half-price at £30.
And if you’re planning to partake in a little walking or hiking (which of course, is a free activity!), there’s currently up to 75% off in the Millets sale and you can also get free delivery if you click on this link from vouchercodes.co.uk. (This expires on 17 January.)
Alternatively, if you’re a keen swimmer, you can get free delivery if you spend over £40 at Simply Swim with this voucher code, and free delivery if you spend over £60 at Simply Beach with this voucher code. Both codes expire on 31 January.
Gym passes
If you fancy braving the gym but don’t have the cash for a membership, there are lots of free day passes around at the moment. In fact, vouchercodes.co.uk has a whole section dedicated to this, including a free three day pass to LA Fitness, a free three day pass to Esporta, and a free three day pass for you and a friend plus a free health check at Fitness First! You can also pick up a free one day pass to Harpers gym here, a free three day trial for Nuffield Health here, and a free one day pass to Virgin Active gyms here.
Games and DVDs
Of course, you don’t need loads of fitness equipment to exercise at home. Instead, why not buy a fitness DVD or two?

Personally, I love the 10 minute solution collection as these DVDs offer a selection of 10 minute workouts – allowing you to get fit even if you don’t have much time! For example, Dance Your Body Thin is £3.99 at Amazon (RRP £9.99) and the new DVD for 2011 is Blast Off Body Fat for £8 (RRP £12.99).
Alternatively, Rosemary Conley’s Fitness Triple Pack is £4.49 (RRP £12.99) at both Amazon and Play.com and offers three discs of workout routines. Or if you’d prefer to try something different, Billy Blanks’ Tae-Bo Energize is £4.19, saving you £5.80, at both Amazon and Play.com.
Of course, you could also turn to your Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360 for fitness help. Right now, you can pick up The Biggest Loser Challenge for the Wii for £8.89, reduced from £19.99, at Sendit.com. Or if you have an Xbox 360 Kinect, you can get your hands on it for slightly more at £17.99 at Play.com (RRP £39.99).
You can even pick up a 10 Minute Solution: Knock Out Body game for the Wii for £11.99 at Play.com, saving you £8. Alternatively, My Fitness Coach: Dance Workout, also for the Wii, is just £9.83 (RRP £19.99) at The Hut.
On the other hand, if you have a Playstation 3 and don’t mind watching a Spice Girl prance around, you can get your hands on Get Fit with Mel B for £17.98 at GameStation, saving you more than £32.
Don’t forget, to save even more money, it’s worth taking a look at websites such as Swapshop and Swapgame which allow you to swap games and DVDs you no longer want for ones you do want!
Finally, remember that many of these deals won’t stick around for long. So if you want to take advantage, get in quick!
