Co-op & Nisa curry meal deal for two: what you get for £7

The Co-operative and Nisa let you choose two mains, two sides and drinks for just £7. Here’s how the meal deal stacks up against rival supermarket food offers.

A new meal deal is available for curry fans at the Co-operative and Nisa, offering two mains, two sides and a four pack of beer or Coca-Cola for just £7.

This deal is only available until 12 October, so you should visit your local Co-op or Nisa soon if you’re interested.

We’ll now run through what you can get before comparing it to rival offers.

Co-op & Nisa meal deal: what you can get

Here are the options if you’re interested in a budget-friendly curry deal:

Mains

  • Co-op takeaway chicken korma (350g)
  • Co-op chicken tikka (350g)
  • Co-op butternut squash makhani (350g)

Sides

  • Co-op pilau rice (250g)
  • Co-op plain naan bread (two-pack)

Drinks

  • Coca-Cola (4x250ml)
  • Coca-Cola Zero (4x250ml) - not available at the Co-op
  • Diet Coke (4x250ml)
  • Cobra beer (four pack) – not available at the Co-op

The mains cost either £3.50 or £3.75 while the sides cost up to £1.69, depending on whether you buy from the Co-op or Nisa.

If you bought two chicken kormas, two pilau rice and a four-pack of Coca-Cola at the Co-op you would save just over £7 when compared to buying everything separately.

You could save more at Nisa as the four-pack of Cobra beer (which is not available online at Co-op) costs £6.25 – nearly the price of the whole meal deal.

Is the Co-op/Nisa deal good value?

You get a decent amount of food for £7 and will save money, but there are very limited options especially when you compare it to a similar deal by Jack’s (but this doesn’t come with a drink and obviously there are very few Jack's stores to visit).

Unfortunately, it appears that the Co-op has more limited drink options online with no Cobra beer or Coca-Cola Zero available.

One advantage of this deal over Jack’s is that it’s a lot easier to find a Co-op or Nisa, but if you’re not in the mood for one of the three curries on offer then this deal isn’t for you.

While you’ll spend £3 more on the Tesco’s Dine In meal deal or M&S Dine In for Two, you have more options to choose from, and get a dessert but Tesco’s offer also includes wine or soft drinks.

Our verdict? If you’re in a mood for a curry and aren’t too fussy about what’s on offer, you can save money but you’re likely to get better value (and choice) with the M&S or Tesco meal deal.
