Aldi and Lidl beat the big names in supermarket survey

Budget supermarkets get better scores than Sainsbury's, Asda, Tesco and Morrisons in annual Which? satisfaction poll.
Budget supermarkets Aldi and Lidl are continuing to win plaudits as well as shoppers, coming second and third respectively in this year’s Which? supermarket satisfaction survey.
Both shops gained four stars for the quality of their fresh produce and, crucially, value.
Waitrose topped the survey for the third year running, with a score of 83% and five stars for its customer service.
Marks & Spencer came fourth in the poll of 11,000 Which? members.
Tesco and the Co-operative came joint last. Tesco only received two stars for its customer service, own brand products and store environment.
The results follow a BBC investigation revealing that many big supermarket 'deals' were misleading and sometimes more expensive than buying individual products.
Ocado and Waitrose came joint top in a poll of online supermarkets, each achieving a score of 80%.

Tesco fruit & veg is a total rip off. I don't even bother to look at it anymore. I use the store for odds & ends because of it's 24 hour opening. I use Morrison's fuel because it is cheaper & with the points earned add up to a better deal than clubcard points overall. The main bulk of our shop which we always did in Morrisons we now do in Aldi. I can't say all of their prices are better but a lot of them are. An expensive box of cereal in Tesco is as much as £5. In Aldi around £2. Tesco 'bargains' on non food items are an insult to one's intelligence. Oddly it used to be one of my favourites but it appears a new breed of executives hold the reigns & their methods leave one wondering whatever happened to good old fashioned moral values such as honesty & integrity & fair play.

Correction to my last posting It should read " Waitrose & Ocado" , not " John Lewis & Ocado "

@davidnotts. My shopping habits are very similar to your own, particularly re local market traders as preferred 1st option. I do agree with you that it is always worth complaining. As a former merchandiser & mystery shopper I KNOW that complaints lead to improvements, in many instances. Back to the point re John Lewis & Ocado; only Tesco & Sainsbury can claim to service virtually the whole of the country, with Asda & Morrisons probably reaching 85-90%, I would imagine. It seems to me that the resources of J Lewis & Ocado are only stretched to cover less than 50%. My point being that, the smaller your empire, the more control you have over the fine tuning of it, and I therefore believe that we are not comparing like for like, in this instance. Maybe we will just have to agree to disagree Merry Xmas
