Tesco shoppers warned: millions in vouchers about to expire

Shoppers who still have Clubcard vouchers issued two years ago are being told to use them by month-end or lose them for good.

Shoppers who have older Clubcard vouchers have been warned to use them by midnight on Saturday (30 November) or lose them for good.

Clubcard vouchers are valid for roughly two years: they won't expire exactly on that date, but at the end of the month they were first issued.

That means vouchers first issued at any point in November 2022 will be expiring at the end of this month.

Tesco said that there are up to £18 million worth of expiring vouchers yet to be redeemed.

The supermarket has already emailed at-risk customers, but if you're worried you might have missed the correspondence you can simply log into your Clubcard account and check there.

The expiration date is clearly stated at the bottom of each voucher online.

Extend your Clubcard voucher's life

If you do have a bunch of vouchers that are about to become worthless but don't have anything practical to redeem them on just yet, there is a way to extend the life of most of your balance.

As highlighted by Moneysavingexpert here, you just need to make the smallest possible purchase on the Clubcard reward partners page for each voucher you own.

As you can see from the screengrab below, there are a bunch of top-up vouchers that you can buy for as little as 50p.

So, let's assume you have two £5 Clubcard vouchers. By redeeming them on a couple of 50p purchases, you'll then have two shiny new vouchers worth £4.50 that'll be good for another couple of years.

It's not the perfect solution, but it's certainly better than wasting your vouchers on something you'll never need or use!
