Holiday 1p Helpers: Iceland promo lets you pick up an item for a penny
Iceland's online promotion lets you pick up a grocery item worth up to £3.75 for just 1p. However, the offer is fairly limited and only runs until August 11.
Iceland has relaunched an eye-catching promotion that promises huge savings on selected groceries, but you’ll need to act fast if you want to take advantage.
As the name implies, Holiday 1p Helpers let you pick up a selected item of the day for just 1p.
The supermarket says items in the promotion would normally cost up to £3.75.
To give you an example of some of the deals, you'll be able to bag chicken dippers (£3.75), bacon (£2.30) and Kit Kat bars (£2.50) for just a penny.
It's the second time Iceland has run such an offer, having done so last Summer as well.
Downsides to the latest Iceland promotion
While it’s a nice little saver, it’s worth stressing there are quite a few catches involved which means it's definitely not for everyone.
First, there's only one grocery item included per day so if it's not something you'd buy the promotion is of limited use.
Second, it’s only available through Iceland's app and you'll have to enter a code to qualify for the discount, which you can source either from the app or the supermarket's Instagram page (you'll need an account).
Remember also that you need to spend at least £40 on your order if you want free delivery so it's not like you can just bag that one item.
Finally, the promotion only runs until 11 August, so it's not something you'll be able to make use of regularly.

How the Holiday 1p Helpers promotion works
If you're still interested, here's how to take advantage.
Head to the supermarket's Instagram page or open the Iceland app to find out which product is on special and what code you'll need to enter (you won't see this if you're just on the Iceland website).
We went to the app and found the code front and centre on the 'Home' page (see image, right).
The product on offer today – 03 August – is a pack of 14 Kit Kat bars, which normally costs £2.50, so that's an effective £2.49 saving.
Assuming the item is of interest you then add it to your basket along with enough other items to pass the £40 threshold for free delivery.
At the point of checkout, enter the code – for today's offer that'd be HH-KITKAT – and your discount will be applied.
What Iceland says about Holiday 1p Helpers
Richard Walker, executive chairman at Iceland, said: “We know how tough it can be to feed the family during the summer.
“We wanted to make more items accessible for our shoppers and ease the stress when it comes to doing the weekly shop by giving unbeatable value on some of the nation’s favourite fridge and freezer fillers.
“There’s no catch, just shop via the Iceland app and use the code – it couldn’t be easier.”

lovemoney verdict: nice idea but limited use
The option of potentially picking up a family favourite for just 1p is clearly a clever promotion.
However, the fact that it’s so time-limited and there's only one item available each day means it won't be for everyone and isn't exactly going to make a meaningful dent in anyone's monthly food bill.
The maximum saving is £3.74 after all.
Finally, it's only available through the app which is something many shoppers won't be comfortable doing,
Ultimately, we see it as a nice little boost if you’re already an Iceland shopper or were thinking of giving the supermarket a whirl anyway.
It doesn’t have the variety of one of the supermarket giants like Tesco or Sainsbury’s, but the fact it also offers free next-day delivery on orders over £40 means you could save a little more cash by trying them out before 11 August.
Remember, some of the big supermarkets charge up to £7 for a home delivery slot.
Speaking of delivery, Iceland is currently offering free same-day delivery to new online customers who place an order of at least £40.
