Current Discounts And Deals #56

Whether you're looking for new clothes, a camera, groceries or DVDs this weekend, we can help you bag a bargain...

Another week might be drawing to a close, but -- thankfully for Fools -- the summer sales are not.

As more stores add extra lines to their seasonal clearance events, opportunities to save are hotting up.

So whether it's clothes, a camera, groceries or films you're interested in buying this weekend, now's your chance to get `em cheap!

Cut Price Clobber

First up this week comes the news that high street giant Topshop has (finally!) begun its summer sale. With up to 60% off a massive range of items, it's well worth checking out.

Unisex store Uniqlo has also applied further reductions to selected sale stock -- some items are now less than half price.

Elsewhere, Urban Outfitters has cut the price of 100 extra items as part of its continuing sale -- there are great discounts to be had on jeans, T-shirts, shoes and accessories for both men and women.

If you're after a few funky T-shirts for holidays and weekends, you might be interested in Play.com's range of discounted clothes. I particularly love this retro Goonies top -- it's down from £11.99 to £4.99.

Finally, ladies looking for a suitable summer wedding outfit might want to check out the Hobbs sale. While full-priced Hobbs stock is on the pricey side, its discounted dresses, jackets and accessories have up to 50% off -- and definitely strike the right note for a friend or relative's special day.

Look And Listen -- For Less

As always, there's an array of excellent offers this week on CDs and DVDs.

My first pick is this Shameless, Season Three DVD box set  -- normally £24.99, it's now £6.99 at Zavvi.

Here we go again. Tapping into the Abba-mania that the premiere of new film Mamma Mia! has ignited, classic comedy Muriel's Wedding is also available this weekend at a knock-down price. It's £2.99, down from £5.99 at HMV.com.

Also at HMV.com, rom-com Last Kiss, starring Scrubs' Zach Braff and The OC's Rachel Bilson, is on offer at £1.99 -- that's £13 off the RRP.

And the entertaining Face Off -- in my opinion, truly the most implausible film ever -- is now £2.99, reduced from £4.99.

Another brilliant bargain available this weekend is this Gone With The Wind collector's edition box set. It contains four discs, featuring both the classic film and a collection of extras that includes hour-long biographies of the two main stars. The best part is that it's reduced from £13.99 to £2.98 at Amazon -- frankly, readers, I do give a damn!

Finally, Tesco has come up trumps this week with some of its discounts and deals. If you (or one of your parents) is a fan of 70s sounds, The Very Best Of T-Rex or The Very Best Of 10CC might float your boat. Both are a bargainous £2 delivered from Tesco Jersey.

Meanwhile, keen-eyed grocery shoppers should be able to spot discounted DVDs in Tesco stores right now. Some are reduced to as little as £3 -- hurrah!

Practical Pound Saving

If you're the practical type and would rather find sale items to spruce up your home, there are plenty to be had this weekend.

Homebase is offering up to 50% off a range of indoor and outdoor goods in its sale -- plus a host of other deals on paint and flooring. Most offers are due to end on 12 July.

Meanwhile, Argos is running a seven day Mega Deals promotion, mainly featuring electrical items. I think the best bargain is this digital camera and printer set, which is less than half price at £59.99. Offers are due to end on 9 July.

The Ikea in-store sale has also been extended -- discounts on selected lines will now be available until 13 July.

Finally, minimalists' favourite The White Company is also offering up to 40% off a wide variety of bedding, clothing, home accessories and gifts in its clearance sale.

Books, Beauty And Banqueting!

This is one for children and nostalgic grown-ups: TheBookPeople is currently retailing all seven books in The Chronicles Of Narnia series at £6.99 -- that's £33 less than the RRP.

And if it's beauty products you're after, Boots.com is offering an extra 500 Advantage Card points for every £50 spent between 2 and 8 July. Better still, you can get an another 500 by using the code STRK12 at the checkout -- giving you a total of 1000 (£10 worth) of bonus points.

Those in the mood for a chocolate or twelve might want to check out Woolworths' offers on selected boxes of goodies. Among them are discounts of up to 50% off Thorntons chocolates -- yum!

And back by popular demand is M&S's £10 `night in' offer. This weekend, two people can enjoy a main meal, a side dish, dessert and a bottle of wine for a fiver each. The offer is available in stores only.

Anyone who'd like to try online grocery shopping might be interested in this introductory offer from Tesco. Buy £50 worth of groceries online, enter the code XXD946 at the checkout and get your shopping delivered absolutely free

Finally, for those moments when cooking is just too much hassle, Yo Sushi restaurants have an offer that may tempt you. Fill in the form on the company's website to get your free `Summer Passport', which will entitle you to 50% off your food bill every Monday and Tuesday until 19 August.

Have a fun -- and Foolish -- weekend!

Offers Which Continue To Be Valid:

La Senza is continuing its summer sale. There's a hefty 50% off lots of bras, nightwear and other frilly treats.

Here's a good deal for those planning a trip between UK cities: Megabus provides low-cost intercity bus and train services within the UK.

Book now for journeys from 14 July onwards, and you could bag a single train ticket from Glasgow to Birmingham for just £1.50, and a return journey for £2.50. That even includes the booking fee!

Topman is still offering up to 50% off a range of items, which means that discounted cardigans, jeans, shirts and T-shirts can all be bought at the click of a button.

Miss Selfridge has also extended its range of sale items -- some of which have more than 50% off. Elsewhere, Dorothy Perkins has begun its final clearance event, with further reductions available on already-discounted items.

Voucher code heaven can be found at myvouchercodes.co.uk, a website which lists a range of discount codes and printable vouchers to help you save on your everyday shopping. You may also want to check out codes.co.uk and hotukdeals.com.

And Amazon fans looking for a bargain should take note of Price Cut Review, a nifty website that lists all current Amazon products selling at half price or less.
