Current Discounts And Deals #58

Updated on 17 February 2009 | 2 Comments

With 3 for 2 on spa products, 2 for 1 deals on days out, chocolate brownies for £1 and up to 70% off clothes and homewares, there's plenty to smile about this weekend!

After a week of wind and rain, perhaps it isn't difficult to believe that the summer sales are almost over.

Luckily, there are still a few precious days of discounts left. And even if the weather's cold and miserable this weekend, there are enough hot deals available online to warm your spending-savvy heart!

Here's my pick of the best bargains out there right now.

Electric Entertainment

As always, the internet is awash with great deals on DVDs, CDs and computer games this weekend.

First up, Asda's sale selection of Xbox 360 games is worth a look. Games start at £7.93, and some are less than half price.

Elsewhere, Argos is offering Resident Evil IV for the Wii at the reduced price of £19.73 -- that's £10 cheaper than the RRP.

Lovers of Noel Edmonds (are you out there?) and fans of retro TV might get a kick out of this Telly Addicts game for the Play Station 2. It's a bargainous £1.99 from TheGameCollection.net

The site also has a host of other offers on Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Wii and Play Station 3 games.

Film fans looking to get hold of the Oscar-winning movie There Will Be Blood on DVD might want to consider ordering it from MovieMail-Online.co.uk, where it's available for £11.99 delivered. That's a saving of £6 off the RRP, and the best deal I've found on the web.

Another brilliant deal is back on at HMV.com. I originally mentioned the Cracker: Complete Collection box set in a Money Saving Tips article a few weeks back -- and the offer disappeared at lightning speed! The DVDs are now back down to just £24.99 -- a saving of a whopping £95 off the RRP. If you want `em, start clicking now!

Finally, there are still decent discounts to be had on CDs at both HMV.com and Zavvi -- where the Editors' album The Back Room is just £2.99.

Bargain Buys For Kids

There are also some great deals on goodies for youngsters this weekend.

Tesco Direct has slashed prices on a selection of outdoor children's toys -- most are half price.

Elsewhere The Disney Store has discounted a wide variety of children's toys, clothing and accessories. Many items have 50% off.

And at Asda, the final book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, is available in paperback for just £1. That's a magic saving of £7.99 on the RRP! Ahem.

Half-Price Homewares

This weekend's also a great opportunity to pick up cut-price products for your home.

Posh furniture and accessory emporium The Pier has started its sale -- so there's up to 70% off a range of furniture, textiles, tableware and other nick nacks.

There are also some great bargains to be had in the half price sale at Argos. This Power Juicer is half price at £49.99, as is this Energi Easy Clean Health Grill, £19.99.

Woolworths is also having an online clear-out, with fantastic offers on a range of goods. Anyone looking to buy an electric fan won't go far wrong with this stylish chrome number, reduced by £19.99 to £15

This retro two-slice toaster from Russell Hobbs is also reduced by more than 50% -- it's now £9.99 -- and this set of two Pyrex dishes, £5.50, is also half price.

Cheap And Chic Shopping

Fashion lovers still keen to stock up on sale items should be aware their days are numbered. With magazines now full of tips on autumn/winter style, expect to see new collections flooding stores from the beginning of next month.

As if to prove this point, Debenhams has announced that its blue cross sale will end this Sunday. Don't miss the deadline for discounts of up to 70% on clothing, accessories, and homewares.

Hobbs has slashed the price of its sale items further, and the folks at La Senza have gone lingerie loco -- they're selling pretty pairs of knickers for just 99p each.

Entering the sale race slightly late are Jigsaw and Accessorize. Both have cut the price of selected items, though Jigsaw's discounts are only available in store.

Monsoon has also cut prices on some of its childrenswear, while Adams is currently offering a 3 for 2 deal on schoolwear.

And, for all you lovers of swanky skin-care and make-up, there are two interesting offers this week. First up, Boots.com is offering a bonus of 1000 extra Advantage Card points -- £10 worth -- when you buy three premium beauty items online (one to be skincare).

In addition, Saturday 12 July is Boots Mega Day. For every £30 spent in store, shoppers will receive an extra 500 Advantage Card points. Online shoppers will get an extra 1000 when they spend £60

This promotion will apply even in conjunction with other offers -- so beauty junkies who buy their stuff over the web could end up with a hefty 2000 bonus points this weekend!

Elsewhere, The Sanctuary, one of London's most famous spas, is offering a range of discounts on treatments -- plus a 3 for 2 offer on its products. So, you can pamper yourself for less whether you're in the city or at home!

2 For 1 Treats

Walkers is offering 2 for 1 entry to a range of top family attractions, including Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Warwick Castle.

Just look for the voucher on promotional packs of crisps, and take it with you when you go.

The terms and conditions of the offer can be seen here. Please note, certain dates are restricted.

Tasty Tidbits

Finally, I thought it only fair to mention that Asda has come up trumps with a few delicious offers on food this weekend.

Jacques fruit cider is just £2 per bottle at the moment -- so it's a cheap and cheerful drink for anyone with a sweet tooth.

British strawberries are also reduced to £1 right now. So what if Wimbledon's over?!

Last, but definitely not least, the newly launched Thorntons chocolate brownies are also on special offer. Chocoholics can get hold of 12 for £1. Delicious!

Offers Which Continue To Be Valid:

As part of its clearance sale, Woolworths is still offering this Beko widescreen LCD television for just £109.99.

For fashionistas, Diesel's summer sale is worth a look -- as is The Shoe Studio, where there's now 70% off selected footwear.

Voucher code heaven can be found at myvouchercodes.co.uk, a website which lists a range of discount codes and printable vouchers to help you save on your everyday shopping. You may also want to check out codes.co.uk and hotukdeals.com.

And Amazon fans looking for a bargain should take note of Price Cut Review, a nifty website that lists all current Amazon products selling at half price or less.
