Best January freebies 2023: gym, Lego, coffee - and even cash
We round up the best January freebies from Lego, Burger King, Anytime Fitness and more.
January is always a rough time when it comes to our money.
Christmas is an expensive time anyway, and with many of us being paid early in December, it means that we need to make that pay packet last even longer than usual.
That difficulty is only exacerbated by the cost of living crisis, with households across the country already struggling to make their money stretch far enough.
Thankfully, there are quite a few freebies on offer in January which can lighten some of those financial worries, allowing you to get everything from coffee to cocktails absolutely free.
Free coffee
You can get a free coffee every Friday throughout January thanks to Leon.
The offer is available in the self-serve kiosks at EG petrol forecourts, rather than in its regular stores ‒ you can find a local store on the Leon website.
You can only claim one hot drink per day, but you’ll have the choice of latte, mocha, flat white, cappuccino, hot chocolate and espresso.
More free coffee
Another way to get your hands on some free coffee is by signing up for the Jack’s Beans Coffee app.
Download the app and you’ll be able to take advantage of a free coffee from a Jack’s Beans store near you.
Free Lego magazine
Everyone loves Lego, no matter what age you are.
But if you happen to have kids aged between five and nine, then you can take advantage of a free subscription to Lego magazine.
The magazine is sent out four times a year, and there are no shipping costs either.
Free beer
If you are trying to get fit in January, then this one might be for you. No, really.
Head into a Hungry Horse pub this month, and show them that you have completed 10,000 steps for the day, whether on a smart watch or step counter, and you’ll get a free beer.
This won’t set you back on your fitness drive though, since it’s an alcohol-free Heineken. Alternatively, you can cash those steps in for a free Coke Zero instead.
More free beer
And this time it’s alcoholic!
Greene King is giving away free drinks to customers who visit a participating pub with their neighbour on 11th January between 3pm and 9pm, and use the codeword ‘neighbour’ when making their purchase.
It follows research from the firm which found that many feel increasingly lonely since the pandemic, with the idea that a free drink with your neighbour will help boost some community spirit.
Even more free beer
Who needs dry January?!
Once again, it’s an offer involving Greene King ‒ enter your details into this form and you can claim a free pint of Madri until the end of the month.
Free food and drink worth £10
When the weather is cold and wet, a little food and drink from sunnier climes can act as a real pick-me-up.
And you can get some, absolutely free, by signing up for the Turtle Bay app.
Turtle Bay runs a chain of Caribbean restaurants, and if you get the app in January you’ll be rewarded with £10 to spend however you like.
Free burger
If you are a Burger King fan, then this one is for you. The fast food chain now has a ‘click and collect’ functionality in place, and using it could land you some free food to boot.
So long as your first order is above £3, then that first use of the click and collect will entitle you to a free Whopper. Check on the website to make sure that click and collect is on offer at your local Burger King.
Free gym passes
If burgers and beer aren’t part of your new year’s routine, and you want to get fit, then you might want to take advantage of the free gym passes on offer from Anytime Fitness.
The firm is giving away three-day passes for its 190 clubs ‒ just fill out your details here to claim them.
Free cash
A new year is of course a time for a fresh start and that might mean making changes to your finances, for example by switching your bank account.
There are plenty of features that might attract you to a new bank account, from a quality overdraft to interest on your in-credit balance.
However, there are few bigger selling points than the opportunity to get your hands on some free cash in the form of a switching bonus from your new bank.
Right now you can help yourself to as much as £200. Check out our run-through of the big switching bonuses on offer right now.
