Current Discounts And Deals #60

Updated on 17 February 2009 | 7 Comments

Want to find a suit for less than £30, homewares with 50% off, or get hold of a free album and iPod dock? Look no further!

Perhaps I'm imagining it, but I can almost feel the shift of the high street seasons in the air. New stock is appearing on the shelves of many stores already, and bright signs seem to be screaming `Clearance! Final Days!' everywhere I look.

So, as the last days of this year's summer sales dawn, I've rounded up the best deals and discounts left. Get them before they go!

Fashion, Beauty And Baby Bargains

Clothing and accessory bargains will be among the first to disappear, so if you're looking to stock your wardrobe with cheap and chic items, now is the time.

This week, I've had email alerts from several of my favourite high street stores including Urban Outfitters and Burton, suggesting that their sales will soon be over.

At the same time, though, some high street stores are just jumping onto the sales bandwagon. River Island began its clearance event this week, with discounts of more than 50% available on some items.

Likewise, Monsoon has now discounted a range of men's and women's clothing to complement its existing offers on childrenswear. Savvy shoppers could get up to 50% off selected lines -- and if you need an outfit for a late summer wedding, this might be a great place to get digging for a bargain.

Any men looking to smarten up their act might also want to check out the sale at M&S. Jackets and trousers are now seriously reduced -- so you could get your hands on a whole new suit for less than £30!

And if it's your baby who needs new togs, check out GreenTrading.co.uk's range of discounted organic childrens and infantwear. Some items have up to 50% off.

Those with little ones might also be interested in Boots.com's discounts and deals on baby items this week. There's a 3 for 2 offer on selected nursery goods, and 20% off a range of travel cots, carriers, change bags and boosters.

Anyone spending over £60 in a single transaction at Boots.com could also earn 600 extra Advantage Card points this weekend (£6 worth) -- and there are triple points on offer for buying baby products when you spend at least £20.

Home And Garden Goods

If it's stuff for your home or garden you're searching for, the sales still have a lot to offer.

The clearance sale at Argos is a great place to find reductions on a wide variety of items, from TVs to furniture. I think this 12 piece value dining set is a bargain at £5, as is this knife block, reduced to £2.99 -- and both are perfect purchases for students heading to university in a few weeks' time.

Meanwhile, Christy's discounted towels are still available. Some have as much as 78% off!

Finally, Homebase is also having a clearance sale. There's up to 50% off selected furniture, lighting and outdoor goods -- as well as offers on paint and bathroom items.

Films, Music, Games & Gadgets

Even if other discounts are starting to dwindle, there's always plenty to smile about when it comes to finding fab offers on DVDs, CDs and the like.

This weekend is no exception to that rule, with Tesco Jersey offering a host of savings on music. Currently, there are more than 100 CDs on offer at less than £5 each. Among them are this Christina Aguilera box set (two albums for £3), Def Leppard - Best of (£2) and the classic Madchester album The Stone Roses (£3).

Dawson's Creek, The Complete Collection is also available at Tesco Jersey for just £14.99 -- which means buyers could save an amazing £134 on the RRP. The box set contains every episode of the teen drama -- so viewers can re-watch the trials and tribulations of the world's most eloquent teenagers ever, all the way from the very beginning.

Sendit.com has a great offer on DVDs this weekend. Choose from a selected range, and you could get three films for £10. Meanwhile, at Amazon, there's still up to 70% off selected DVD box sets.

If you're after something completely free, however, there are two further offers that might interest you this weekend.

If you buy any iPod at M&S, you'll receive a docking station worth £69 absolutely free. Obviously you have to buy the music player first -- but if you're already on the lookout for one, this is a deal not to be missed.

And McFly fans (yes, that includes me) will be thrilled to hear that the bright-sounding band's new album is being given away free in the Mail on Sunday this weekend. Yay!

Have a fun and Foolish weekend.

Offers Which Continue To Be Valid:

This is one for Fools planning to travel in the UK. The Mirror newspaper has teamed up with National Express to offer UK coach trips from just £1 each way.

You can get £1 fares on over 80 routes if you sign up before July 19th and book your trip before August 12th. As usual, just make sure you read all the terms and conditions carefully - for example, trips to and from airports aren't included.

Another brilliant deal is back on at HMV.com. I originally mentioned the Cracker: Complete Collection box set in a Money Saving Tips article a few weeks back -- and the offer disappeared at lightning speed! Now, the DVDs are back down to just £24.99 -- a saving of a whopping £95 off the RRP -- so if you want `em, start clicking now!

Walkers is offering 2 for 1 entry to a range of top attractions, including Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Warwick Castle. Just look for the voucher on promotional packs of crisps, and take it with you when you go. The terms and conditions of the offer can be seen here. Please note, certain dates are restricted.

Voucher code heaven can be found at myvouchercodes.co.uk, a website which lists a range of discount codes and printable vouchers to help you save on your everyday shopping. You may also want to check out codes.co.uk and hotukdeals.com.

And Amazon fans looking for a bargain should take note of Price Cut Review, a nifty website that lists all current Amazon products selling at half price or less.
