Fancy an MP3 player for less than £2? Here's how to get your mitts on one in our latest discounts and deals...

It's finally the weekend, so here are our latest summer discounts and deals to keep you occupied. Hopefully they'll hold up longer than the unpredictable English weather!

Firstly, if you're looking for an alternative to the iPod, at a fraction - and I mean fraction of the cost, why not consider this cheap and cheerful option from bigpockets.co.uk?

The beauty of this MP3 player is in the price, which provides 512Mb (around 120 songs) of listening power for the bargain price of just £1.49! Postage and packaging will set you back £2.79, but for an MP3 player costing less than £2, who's complaining!

Play.com is once again offering a vast array of cheap DVDs with a mighty 80% off the RRP. Bargains include Evan Almighty, and the classic Scarface, both costing just £2.99.

If you're looking for a snazzy new laptop but don't want to pay the earth, why not check out these two options?

First up is Advent's 4211 notebook, which costs only £279.99, and comes equipped with a dainty 10 inch screen and 80GB hard drive - managing to combine portability with value.

If you're looking for something more than just a basic laptop, Acer's Aspire 5315 has a large 15.4 inch screen combined with an Intel Celeron processor and 80GB hard drive for just £279.97.

This is a great all-purpose entry level laptop - and more importantly, it is half the price of many currently on the market.

Alternatively, you could always take advantage of a range of voucher codes from Dixons, with up to 10% off a wide range of kitchen appliances and electrical items throughout August.

Here's one for the ladies. La Senza is once again offering five pairs of knickers for just £10. You can choose from a range of styles, although sizes in some ranges are limited.

And, don't forget to sign up for the Wagamama newsletter. As part of their Summer Slurpin' promotion, each week you can get your mitts on special vouchers to use in branches up and down the country. This week, there's a free side dish on offer, with offers changing weekly.

Finally, O2 has just reduced its Online 25 Simplicity tariff by £5, meaning you can now get 600 minutes and unlimited texts, plus your choice of `bolt on', such as unlimited 02 to O2 calls for just £20 a month instead of £25.

This provides superb value for those who don't mind using their old handset in return for a great deal. The offer runs throughout August.

Offers which continue to be valid:

If you fancy taking a trip across the channel but don't want to break the bank, P & O Ferries is offering trips from Dover to Calais for just £2 for foot passengers and from £15 for cars carrying up to nine people.

Foot passengers must travel between Monday to Thursday, departing after 8.25am and returning before 9pm on the same day. Similar restrictions apply to those travelling by car, so make sure you read the terms and conditions before booking.

If you're looking for cheap mobile broadband, why not opt for a dongle from 3? At the moment you can bag this nifty model for just £7.50 a month, that's half the price you'd pay normally.

There are some summer deals to sink your teeth into if you sign up to lastminute.com's unleash summer offer. Register and you'll qualify for a range of offers including 20% off at Uniqlo and 15% off at Superdrug when you spend £35 or more.

Over at Zavvi, there are a couple of great offers on box sets. Seasons one and two of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's hilarious Extras are available for £7.99 -- a reduction of £20 off the RRP. The Alien Vs. Predator box set, which contains all seven films featuring the scary duo, is now reduced by £49 to £10.99.

Voucher code heaven can be found at myvouchercodes.co.uk, a website which lists a range of discount codes and printable vouchers to help you save on your everyday shopping. You may also want to check out codes.co.uk and hotukdeals.com.

And Amazon fans looking for a bargain should take note of Price Cut Review, a nifty website that lists all current Amazon products selling at half price or less.

Next time you're sipping your coffee in McDonalds, bear in mind that the chain offers free coffee refills to all its customers. It's a policy not many people know about, as many take their coffee away anyway. However, if you fancy chilling out for a bit, why not take advantage of the policy? I popped into my local McDonalds this morning to check the offer really does exist.

Last but not least, here's one for the Londoners among us. If you live or regularly commute to the capital and hold a HM Forces, disabled persons, senior or 16 - 25 railcard -- as well as getting a third off your rail travel, you are also entitled to 34% off the regular off-peak Oyster daily price cap for pay as you go use.

You will need to register your Oyster card at a tube, London overground or selected national rail office to qualify. Full details of the offer can be found here.
