Fancy whopping £150 savings on DVD box sets, 50% off clothes and homewares or a free night in a posh B&B? Check out this weekend's round-up of discounts and deals!

After another week of turmoil in financial markets, it's possible that (like me) you're feeling a little apprehensive about the approach of October... Not to mention the Christmas mania that will inevitably begin gathering pace sometime soon.

But I'm trying to think positively: it's the weekend, the weather's pretty good for this time of year -- and retailers desperate for our business seem to be slashing the price of their goods.

So if you're after a bargain, or looking to get a head start on some seasonal shopping, check out this latest round-up of discounts and deals.

Music

First up this week, there are several great offers out there for music lovers.

This iVoice iPod dock is reduced by £60 to £39.99 at Amazon. It comes with a mini remote control and is compatible with all iPod formats, including the Touch, Classic, Nano 3rd Generation and all previous 30 Pin Dock versions.

Alternatively, you could enjoy this blast from the past, for a bargain price: the box set of Michael Jackson's Bad and Dangerous albums is now reduced to just £3 at Tesco Jersey.

And here's one for Britpop fans who are eagerly awaiting the release of Oasis's new album, Dig Out Your Soul. The best way to pre-order the CD, due out on 6 October, is through BangCd.com -- where the it's an inflation-busting £6.99.

Film and box sets

If you're in need of a good laugh this weekend, I highly recommend this Teachers box set. It contains all four series of the comedy, and is currently £24.93 from TheHut -- so buyers will save £35 off the RRP.

Elsewhere, there's more low-cost comedy available in the form of Cool Runnings, now reduced to £2.99 at Play.com.

Also at Play.com, fantasy-lovers can pick up the extended editions box set of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Buyers will get all 12 discs of  action for £17.99 -- 60% less than the RRP.

This Johnny Depp Collection, now £7.99 at HMV.com, should give female Fools plenty to smile about this weekend. It contains the films Edward Scissorhands, From Hell and Before Night Falls -- and fans will save £17 on the box set's RRP.

HMV.com also has a tempting offer on 24 box sets right now. Now you can watch all six of Jack Bauer's world-saving adventures, for £17.99 per series box set.

One of the best offers I found for last week's edition of Money Saving Tips was HMV's £69.99 Friends box set. Amazingly, Zavvi has gone one better this week and reduced the full ten season set to just £49.99 -- which means buyers will save a massive £150 off the RRP. I think this could be the biggest discount I've ever found when writing these money-saving tips.

Not to be outdone, however, HMV has cut the price of this complete box set of The West Wing to £49.99. Once again, the RRP on this cult series has been slashed by £150!

Books

If you know anyone, young or old, who appreciates an annual at Christmas, check out WHSmith.co.uk's current offer. At the moment, when you buy one annual, you'll get another free.

And at TheBookPeople.co.uk, this complete CD set of Roald Dahl audio books is now reduced from £120 to £18.99. That's £101.01 off! Listeners can enjoy the adventures of Matilda, The BFG, The Twits and The Witches among several others -- and I think this would make a fantastic Christmas present for any child.

Fashion and beauty

BargainCrazy is continuing its sale this week. Many items are less than half price, and there's a selection of women's sportswear, men's sportswear and homewares available.

Meanwhile, La Senza has started a new sale. There's currently up to 50% off bras, knickers, nightwear and beachwear, and you can look for sale items in specific sizes using the clever search on La Senza's website.

Elsewhere, high streets stores including Oasis, BHS and Burton are currently running special sales.

The Oasis mid-season sale is now on, and some items are reduced by more than 50%.

At BHS, there's up to 50% off a selection of womenswear and homewares -- and for the boys, Burton has discounted a range of suits, knitwear, shirts and accessories by up to 50%.

Finally, if its beauty products you're after, Boots is continuing its biggest ever 3 for 2 event until 7 October. Over 10,000 products are included in the promotion, including 4,900 make-up products, 1,900 facial skincare products and 2,900 haircare products.

At the same time, anyone who spends £60 or more in a single transaction on Beauty Boutique brands (not included in the 3 for 2 promotion) will receive 1000 bonus Advantage Card points -- that's £10 worth.

There's also 500 extra points available to anyone who spends £40 or more in a single transaction at Boots.com.

Little luxuries

If you're looking to organise a romantic getaway this winter -- but need to make sure it doesn't break the bank -- this offer from De Vere hotels might help.

When you book to stay for one night at a De Vere Collection bed and breakfast between 29 September and 14 December, you'll get another night free.

And if you're after a few homewares bargains this weekend, check out the Wallace Sacks website. There's 20% off everything right now -- but click quick, as this offer ends on Sunday.

If you enjoy the occasional tipple, I think this wine offer from Sainsbury's is worth considering. Buy six bottles of wine, and you'll get 25% off -- even if some of the bottles you choose are already discounted.

And finally, M&S is once again running its two dine in for £10 offer this weekend. You can choose a main course, side dish, dessert and bottle of wine for two, for just £5 per person. The offer lasts until Sunday 28 September, and this week's menu can be viewed here.

Have a fun and Foolish weekend!

Offers which continue to be valid:

Johnny Depp's grim performance as Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street can now be enjoyed for less. The two-disc edition is now £6.99 at HMV.com, reduced by £6.

Elsewhere, Christy is once again offering up to 50 - 75% off selected ranges of towels. My favourite is the neutral Sorrento range, now half price.

Voucher code heaven can be found at myvouchercodes.co.uk, a website which lists a range of discount codes and printable vouchers to help you save on your everyday shopping. You may also want to check out codes.co.uk and hotukdeals.com.

And Amazon fans looking for a bargain should take note of Price Cut Review, a nifty website that lists all current Amazon products selling at half price or less.
