Current Discounts And Deals #77
With money markets still unstable and fears for the wider economy taking hold, it's likely that shopping is currently somewhere near the bottom of most Fools' priority lists.
However, there are some brilliant bargains to be had right now. So whether you're looking for Christmas gifts or a small treat to relieve the general gloom, there's bound to be something that suits you in this weekend's roundup of discounts and deals.
Music and games
First up this week, a bargain that will bring a smile to the face of any committed computer gamer. At Sendit.com, you can pre-order Call Of Duty: World At War for the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 for £37.89 -- £12 less than the RRP.
The game will be released on 14 November, and Wii users can pick up their version of it for £27.89, also at Sendit.com. Again, they'll save £12 on the RRP.
Meanwhile, music fans might be interested in Amazon's cheap deals on Coldplay's first three albums. Parachutes, A Rush Of Blood To The Head and X & Y are all available for £2.98 each.
Film and DVD box sets
As always, there are some tempting offers on film and DVD box sets this weekend.
At The Hut, this film box set containing The Departed, Gangs of New York and Donnie Brasco is reduced to £8.43. All three films will see buyers perching close to the edge of their seats -- and they'll save £11 on the normal price of the collection.
If these films aren't thrilling enough for you, I dare you to try watching Cloverfield. This super-scary sci-fi horror is now reduced to £5.99 at HMV.com -- but it's not one for the faint-hearted.
Luckily, the site has also reduced this three film Austin Powers box set, containing all the mad movies in the series. It's now £6.99 -- a small price to pay for so much silliness.
And here's a bargainous blast from the past: Cold Feet, The Complete Collection is now just £17.93 from The Hut. It contains all five series of the much-loved drama, and fans will save a whopping £52 off the RRP.
If you're searching for something more child-friendly, you can now pre-order Spongebob Squarepants, The Ultimate DVD Collection for £10.99 from HMV.com. The set, due out in shops on 10 November, features five discs of adventures and is £19 cheaper than the RRP.
Another nicely priced pre-order is the picturesque Dylan Thomas biopic, The Edge Of Love. It's due out on 27 October, but can be bought in advance for £9.90 from Woolworths -- £10 less than the RRP.
However, my DVD bargain of the week has to be this season two box set of The Tudors. The second series of this compelling (and yes, historically inaccurate!) period soap opera is now £17.89 from Sendit.com. Buyers will get more court controversy for their buck, saving £12 on the RRP.
Fashion and accessories
Here's one for handbag fans: there's currently up to 25% off Radley handbags at Lakeland Fine Leather.
There's also a massive dress sale at Bargain Crazy right now, with up to 60% off items from a range of designers. I think this is a great opportunity to pick up a cheap and chic outfit for winter parties -- and I especially like this taffeta prom dress, reduced from £79 to £31.
If it's new footwear you're after, there's now 20% off shoes and boots at Dorothy Perkins online. However, this offer only lasts until Monday 20 October -- so if you want to buy, you'll have to get clicking.
Faith is also holding its mid-season sale, so shoppers here can save up to 70% off shoes, boots, bags and belts.
Elsewhere, River Island begins its online sale today and will start its in-store sale on Tuesday 21 October. There are reductions on both menswear and womenswear, and some lines have up to 50% off.
Beauty, gifts and going away
Boots has another special deal for online shoppers this weekend. Spend £60 or more in a single transaction and you'll receive an extra 600 Advantage Card points (£6 worth).
And Travelodge has now made more £19 rooms available for stays during December and January. To bag one, you'll need to book at least 21 days in advance.
Finally, M&S has now opened its 3 for 2 Christmas shop. With offers on books, beauty gifts and decorations, it should offer some good opportunities for eager early shoppers to save.
Have a fun and Foolish weekend!
Offers which continue to be valid:
If it's a dose of pure joy you're after, HMV.com's two for one offer on Disney DVDs might provide it. Right now, when you buy one movie you'll get another thrown in free.
At Fat Face, there are discounts of up to 50% available on menwear, womenswear and childrenswear.
Debenhams is offering up to 70% off items in its clearance sale. Lines of clothing, accessories and homewares are all discounted -- but my favourite deal is on this classic Le Creuset casserole dish, reduced from £62 to £40. It's perfect for cooking up tasty winter roasts!
If the credit crunch has left you dining in a bit more often, why not treat yourself to this 2 for 1 deal at Strada, where you can munch despite the crunch on all main meals until 23rd October.
The deal comes courtesy of Handbag.com, and is valid at all restaurants except Center Parcs from Sunday to Thursday.
Voucher code heaven can be found at myvouchercodes.co.uk, a website which lists a range of discount codes and printable vouchers to help you save on your everyday shopping. You may also want to check out codes.co.uk and hotukdeals.com.
And Amazon fans looking for a bargain should take note of Price Cut Review, a nifty website that lists all current Amazon products selling at half price or less.
