Supermarkets cut fuel costs in time for Bank Holiday

Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda have cut the price of their fuel.
The UK's main supermarkets have all cut their petrol and diesel prices.
Morrisons led the way, announcing petrol would be cut by 2p per litre, while diesel would be reduced by 1p per litre.
Morrisons said that with a sunny Bank Holiday in prospect, it expected to see many families filling up their tanks for days out and wanted to pass savings on beforehand.
Sainsbury's quickly followed suit, cutting both petrol and fuel by up to 2p per litre. Asda has also cut its fuel by up to 2p and now Tesco has done the same.

The price went up by 4ppl in time for the bank holiday in our area. On the point of cheaper supermarket fuel...well is it really worth going out of your way to save 20p on 20ltrs of fuel? Actually Tesco's around here are often one of the most expensive places to fill up so despite clubcard points I usually go elsewhere & buy a better brand which works out mere pennies more.

Fair point 'electricblue', but what I like most, are the major fuel stations i.e. Shell, Esso, Total et al, that are close to the supermarkets and they compete on local price too. That covers off your spot-on suggestions about driving habits and maintenance, as well as making the pence per litre competitive too.

Get your tyres to the correct pressure, ditch excess weight and drive sensibly. Make sure your car is filled with a summer grade or multigrade low viscosity engine oil and air filters are clean. Save 15% on your fuel costs with some common sense and stop worrying about a penny or two saved on supermarket fuel. I am now of the opinion (after some convincing) that supermarket fuels DO have less performance additives than top branded fuels and are not as high a quality. Makes a mockery of pennies saved at the pumps.
