Barclaycard Bespoke Offers: New personalised daily deals service
Barclaycard has launched a tailored daily deals service to rival the likes of Groupon and Wowcher.
Bespoke Offers is a new service from Barclaycard set to rival daily deal sites like Groupon and Wowcher.
Its key selling point is in the name. Bespoke Offers will provide tailored deals, discounts and vouchers relevant to you.
The new service is available today with 5,000 deals from the likes of Tesco Direct, British Airways, Odeon, House of Fraser, Shell, Samsung and Starbucks, as well as smaller independent retailers.
Bespoke Offers is available to everyone - not just Barclaycard customers - and the firm claims it will save each household taking full advantage of the deals £2,100 a year on average.
How it works
The new service has a website and a mobile app.
You can choose to browse and purchase deals or use vouchers without registering your details. But signing up will mean you get tailored offers relating to your selected preferences and - if you agree - your purchase history.
There are 11 categories of deals including travel, food, fashion, entertainment, kids, home and garden.
Barclaycard says the offers available in each category are checked, verified and backed by Barclaycard to give shoppers some peace of mind.
What’s on offer
So what sort of deals are on offer?
Well one that caught my eye was a voucher to spend £55 on food and drinks for £25 at Le Chardon, a restaurant in East Dulwich.
Another good deal was a £10 Starbucks voucher for £5.
Elsewhere there were useful vouchers like save 5p per litre on any fuel at Shell and a free starter or dessert at Prezzo, as well as money off discounts like 10% off Phillips Candle Lights.
There were also big savings on gadgets. You can get the Samsung DA-E650 Wireless Dual Audio dock for £129.99 instead of £199.95, saving 35% while there were also savings on contract phones.
Why it’s different
Barclaycard says the current untailored approach to money saving is causing ‘offer fatigue’ as shoppers get tired of irrelevant deals. Its antidote is Bespoke Offers.
Instead of bombarding your inbox with one-size-fits-all offers you can choose to search the website yourself or let the service know what you want to hear about.
Merchants will be able to target customers based on their age, income and spending habits and will get a whole suite of tracking tools to help mould better offers.
Other money saving services
Barclaycard's Bespoke Offers is free to browse and there are loads of deals on there that you don't need to pay for so it's worth a look.
But don't forget there are plenty of other shopping services that you can combine with it to save money.
Stuffster tracks prices of items you want to buy and alerts you when they drop to a price you are willing to pay. I was able to get money off a spa day for a friend for her birthday using this service. Read Stuffster: new online shopping website that offers discount alerts for more.
Elsewhere Flubit is a service which negotiates a better price with retailers for the things you want to buy. Find out how Donna Ferguson got on using it in Flubit.com: the new shopping website that will save you cash.
And don’t forget to earn cashback every time you spend with websites like TopCashback and Quidco.
