So, December has finally arrived -- and with Christmas now less than three weeks away (yes, you read that right!), retailers are competing strongly for seasonal business.
In this week's edition of Frugal Friday, you'll find an extensive roundup of the best discounts and deals online and on the high street. Today's highlights include: an Xbox 360 with five games for under £200, £50 off the complete SATC box set and up to 30% off fashion at an eye-popping array of high street stores.
Clicking fingers at the ready.
Music, books, gaming and gadgets
First up this week is an excellent offer on this Xbox 360 Premium Bundle from GAME. The 60GB Xbox Premium console comes with five popular games: Gears Of War, Gears Of War 2, Far Cry 2, Project Gotham Racing 4 and SEGA Superstars Tennis. It's currently £188.49 -- and buyers will save a massive £120 off the RRP.
Meanwhile, Waterstone's has a couple of cool offers on books this weekend. JK Rowling's new title, The Tales Of Beedle The Bard, should delight Harry Potter fans -- and it's currently half price at £3.49. There is also 50% off selected biographies, gift books, annuals and the store's `books of the year' range.
At Amazon, the superb His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman is reduced by 40% to £8.99. And `The Circus', the new album from everyone's favourite comeback band, Take That, is available for £8.71 from ASDA. That's the cheapest price I've found online, TT fans.
Elton John fans might find themselves tempted by this cheap and cheerful hits collection from Play.com. Rocket Man: The Definitive Hits comes with a bonus DVD and is now just £3.99. Buyers will save a brilliant £15 off the RRP.
And finally, Amazon's mp3 downloading service was launched this week. Its single track downloads are cheaper than those from iTunes, and there's a variety of top ten albums currently selling for a bargainous £3!
Film and box sets
As always, there's a wealth of offers on DVDs. Here's my pick of the best (with the most heavily discounted listed first).
Film / Box set | Retailer | Reduction from RRP | New price |
---|---|---|---|
£51 | £48.87 | ||
£18 | £5.99 | ||
£17 | £2.99 | ||
£15 | £4.99 | ||
£11 | £13.99 |
In addition, HMV.com has an extensive range of DVDs on offer from £2.99, and at Sendit.com, there's currently up to 40% off selected Universal blockbusters. Both sales are well worth browsing.
Homewares, toys and gifts
As a result of its recent demise, Woolworths is set to start clearing stock. Its sale, which will feature up to 50% off products, starts today and is likely to continue until further notice.
Meanwhile, Boots has an attractive range of 3 for 2 offers on beauty products, toys and gifts. You'll also receive £10 worth of extra Advantage card points when you spend when you spend £50 or more online in a single transaction before 7 December.
If you're in the market for a Christmas tree, Argos is the place to visit this weekend. This three foot dressed tree is half price at £4.99, while this larger LED fibre optic tree is reduced from £49.99 to £12.49. So, it's now less than half price.
Finally, this six foot black and silver dressed tree is now just £9.99 -- 75% less than its original price -- and anyone looking for a wreath might be interested in this berry and cone decoration. It's also less than half price at Argos, and costs £3.24.
