This week's Frugal Friday highlights include: up to 75% off Christmas trees, £111 off The West Wing box set, and a wealth of wonderful discounts on high street goodies.

This article was first sent to Fools as part of our Frugal Friday email series.

It's now just two weeks until Christmas -- and if you're anything like me, you're probably yet to buy presents for many of your nearest and dearest. Yikes!

Luckily for us, retailers have once again ramped up their efforts to encourage seasonal shopping. This week's Frugal Friday highlights include: up to 75% off Christmas trees, £111 off The West Wing box set, and a wealth of wonderful discounts on high street goodies.

But remember, offers this good won't be around for long. Clicking fingers at the ready.

Books and gadgets

This week, there are several deals that might appeal to bookworms -- or those buying for them.

From today until 6pm on Sunday 14 December, Waterstones is offering 20% off full-priced items. The offer applies in stores only, and you'll need to take this scannable voucher to the checkout when you make your purchases.

And there are two books on offer that might appeal to keen cooks. At M&S, the Crisis Cook Book is reduced to just £1. It features recipes from 28 top chefs, and all proceeds from the sale of the book go to Crisis, the national homelessness charity. Meanwhile, TheBookPeople has reduced Anjum's New Indian cook book to £6.99 -- that's £13 less than the RRP.

If it's children's annuals you're after, TheBookPeople has another excellent offer that might come in handy. There's currently a 3 for 2 deal on titles including Horrid Henry, Doctor Who and Zac Effron.

Finally, music lovers might be tempted by or thrilled to receive these Sennheiser PX100 mini headphones. They're now half price at £14.99 at Play.com.

Film and box sets

As always, there's an array of offers on DVDs this week. Here's my pick of the best (with the most heavily discounted listed first).

Homewares, toys and gifts

This week, there are heaps of discounts and deals on festive decorations. At B&Q, there's 25% off selected lights and up to a third off selected Christmas trees.

Meanwhile, Homebase is offering up to 75% off selected artificial Christmas trees, up to 75% off lights and 3 for 2 deals on all decorations (in store only). At John Lewis, this selection of 100 Christmas tree decorations is half price at £10, and comes in red, gold and silver.

And when it comes to gifts, there are plenty of special offers to be had right now. At Superdrug, there's a massive 3 for 2 deal on an array of gifts including fragrance, skincare and beauty treats. Over at Boots, there's 10% off selected fragrance gift sets and a 3 for 2 deal on over 1000 toys and gifts.

And, if you feel like splashing out on some swanky premium products, Boots is also offering 1000 extra Advantage Points (£10 worth) to shoppers who buy three or more selected items in a single transaction.

I was reminded of my youth when I came across this next deal: Dixons is currently offering 15% off Scalextric sets.

Other toy bargains can be found at Argos, where there's currently up to 50% off toys and games, and Tesco, where there is up to 60% off a range of girls and boys' toys.

Fashion and beauty

Fools looking to treat their nearest and dearest to the dress of their dreams -- and those looking for festive party wear -- are in luck again this weekend. Here's my pick of the high street sales:

Burton: 20% off EVERYTHING until the end of today.

Clarks: up to 50% off selected men's and women's shoes.

Dorothy Perkins: 20% off EVERYTHING until the end of today.

Faith: up to 70% off selected sale items.

H&M: spend £50 or more up until 14 December and receive a £10 gift card free.

Hobbs: up to 50% off selected sale items.

La Senza: up to 50% off selected underwear.

Oasis: 25% off marked prices with this printable voucher, or when you use the online code collections2008.

Reiss: 30% off selected dresses, 20% off menswear and accessories.

The Shoe Studio: up to 50% off shoes for men and women.

Warehouse: 20% off online purchases when you use the online code FRIEND.

Woolworths: the ill-fated retailer has now begun its closing down sale, so there are bound to be brilliant bargains on offer -- if you fight hard enough for them.

Department store discounts

In addition, several department stores are still offering special discounts:

BHS: 20% off EVERYTHING until Sunday 14 December.

Debenhams: up to 20% off clothes, homewares and gifts and up to 10% off childrenswear and beauty products.

John Lewis: prices lowered on a variety of good in response to competitors' events.

Extra offers

Finally, one or two extra offers to excite you.

M&S's brilliant Two Dine In For £10 offer is back this weekend. Shoppers who are quick off the mark will get a main course, side dish, dessert and bottle of wine for two, for a princely £5 each. This week's menu can be viewed here.

And sweet-toothed Fools will be thrilled to hear that Sainsbury's has discounted Ben & Jerry's ice cream to a delicious £1.95 per 500ml tub. Hurrah!

Finally, homewares hunters at the ready: Ikea's winter sale is set to start on 18 December. Prepare yourselves for the stampede!

Have a fun and Frugal Friday, and a wonderful weekend!

Worried you might have missed a bargain last week? You can read our previous Frugal Friday email here.

And don't forget: although all prices and discounts were correct on the day this email was sent out, offers are subject to change and often sell out quickly.
