Second supermarket fuel price cuts this week
Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's cutting petrol and diesel prices again.
Supermarkets are cutting fuel prices for the second time this week.
From lunchtime on Friday Tesco is cutting the cost of petrol by 2p per litre and diesel by 1p per litre across its 500 forecourts.
Asda is delivering the same cut from Saturday 13th December. Asda has a national cap on its fuel prices, meaning you’ll pay no more than 112.7p per litre on petrol or 118.7p per litre for diesel.
Unsurprisingly, Morrisons and Sainsbury's have followed suit and also announced the same price drops, both from Saturday.
All four major supermarkets (Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons) cut their petrol prices earlier this week.
Simon Williams, fuel spokesman at RAC, said that with oil prices falling to levels last seen in July 2009 and the strong performance of the pound, there is a decent chance that petrol prices could drop as low as 110p per litre, with diesel dropping below 118p per litre.
“If fuel drops this low, motorists will be saving £11 filling up an average 55-litre family car compared to the start of the year,” he added.
