With the clocks going back this weekend, it's clear that winter has well and truly arrived. So let's hope that this week's discounts and deals help to brighten things up a little...

If you haven't yet made the most of the mid-season sales, don't panic, because there are still plenty of bargains up for grabs!

Debenhams is also offering some great deals on furniture. So if you're sprucing up your home in time for Christmas, you can now get your hands on this Chocolate Two Seater Sofa for £404.10, saving you a whopping £494.90! And this Calgary Nest of Tables is now £251.10, a saving of £301.90.

Gadgets and gizmos

If you need a new digital set top box, you can now enjoy £10 off a Freeview or freesat box on the Humax Direct website. Simply enter the online code FAFTEN at the checkout! This offer is valid until 31 March next year and can only be redeemed against a brand new PVR-9150T or PVR-9300T Freeview box and the FOXSAT-HD and FOXSAT-HDR freesat boxes.

Any photographers out there will be delighted to hear that Argos is now offering up to half price off selected digital cameras. This Canon PowerShot Camera is now £59.99, saving you £40. And this Alba Digital Camera is now £89.99 (RRP £179.99).

Alternatively, if you're after a netbook, this Acer Aspire One Netbook from CDiscount has a massive £100 off at £279.99. And if you're looking for a new printer, this Epson Laser Printer is now just £79.99 (RRP £99.99) also at CDiscount.

Books and games

The air is certainly getting chillier, but that means there's even more of an excuse to snuggle up in front of a roaring fire with a good book! And once again there are some great bargains to be had this week!

  • The Book Depository is offering some great discounts on a wide range of novels. So if you're a Kate Mosse fan, you can now enjoy her latest release The Winter Ghosts for just £8.97, saving you £6.02. But if you're more of a Michael Connelly fanatic, you can pick up Nine Dragons for half price at £9.47.

Freebie of the week

If your kids are big sport fans, this half-term they can take part in a range of sports activities up and down the country absolutely free!  All you have to do is print out a voucher from the ASDA Sporting Chance website and find out where the nearest free activities are in your area. Simply make your booking and make sure you bring your voucher with you on the day!

Activities include swimming, football, cricket and gymnastics. This is only valid during the half-term break.

Mobile phone deal of the week
