Yet more supermarket fuel price cuts

Updated on 17 December 2014 | 0 Comments

More cuts to petrol and diesel prices from Thursday.

The nation’s major supermarkets have announced another round of fuel price cuts.

Asda was first to announce a cut of 2p per litre on petrol and 1p per litre cut on diesel to kick in on Thursday (18th December). Asda has a national cap on fuel prices, which means you’ll pay no more than 110.7p per litre on petrol and no more than 112.7p per litre on diesel at Asda’s forecourts.

Sainsbury’s followed up with an identical cut, as have Morrisons and Tesco. Their price cuts will also take effect from tomorrow.

Fuel prices have tumbled repeatedly in recent weeks, as wholesale costs drop. Falling fuel prices were highlighted by the Office for National Statistics this week as a significant factor in inflation falling to 1% in November, the lowest it’s been since 2002.

And the RAC has forecast that petrol prices could go below £1 a litre in early 2015. The average price is currently 116.9p per litre.
