Latest batch of supermarket fuel price cuts
All four supermarkets cutting fuel prices.
All of the UK's leading supermarkets have announced that they will be cutting fuel prices by 2p a litre on both petrol and diesel. Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons will bring in the price cut from tomorrow, though Tesco is implementing its cuts from this afternoon (Monday).
Asda is the only supermarket which has a fuel price cap, so as a result of the cuts Asda shoppers will pay a maximum of 105.7p a litre for petrol and 112.7p a litre for diesel.
There have been a number of price cuts over the last month as a result of falling wholesale prices. This latest round of cuts has brought fuel prices down to the lowest since January 2010.
Fuel prices will fall to £1 a litre
Fuel prices are expected to fall to £1 a litre early this year, says the RAC.
With the level that wholesale fuel prices have dropped, it thinks that there is room for further cuts, perhaps by as much as 5p-6p by the end of January.
