EDF Energy announces gas price cut of 1.3%

Updated on 27 January 2015 | 0 Comments

Last of the Big Six to announce price cut and it's the smallest by far.

EDF Energy has announced it is to cut its gas prices by 1.3%.

It is the last of the Big Six energy suppliers to announce price cuts, following E.ON, British Gas, Scottish Power, SSE and npower, who have announced reductions ranging from 3.5% to 5.1%. EDF’s reduction is by far the smallest.

The cut is effective from 11th February, and is equivalent to a £9 reduction in the average bill. EDF says the move will be benefit around one million customers.

The price cuts from the major suppliers follows sharp falls in the cost of wholesale gas in recent months, as well as pressure from politicians.
