TalkTalk to hike bills again
TalkTalk is to increase the price of its home phone, broadband and TV for the second time since December.
TalkTalk is to raise prices on its home phone, broadband and TV packages by up to 43% this June, the second price rise in the last seven months.
Emails were sent out over the Bank Holiday weekend notifying users that their prices will be going up again.
From 1st June, the cost of all monthly broadband and TV packages will go up by £1.50 a month (£18 a year).
Those on Simply Broadband will be worst affected, with their bills jumping from £3.50 to £5 a month, a 43% increase, while households on the TV Essentials deal will see their bill increase to £10 a month.
Other changes
More changes will follow from 1st July.
Most significantly, calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers (largely used by banks and utility companies) will no longer be included in calling packages. Find out how to call 0845 and 0870 numbers for free.
Free local calls are also being scrapped for those who are not on one of its evening and weekend and/or anytime call plans.
On the plus side, subscribers will continue to receive a 19% discounted call rate on a single 0845 number of their choice.
Another price rise
This latest rise comes after monthly line rental rises in December, from £15.95 a month to £16.70 a month, along with increased call charges. The Anytime UK Calls boost, which includes calls to other landlines, also went from £5 to £7.50 a month, though mobile phones were added to the deal for the first time.
Those on existing discounts will have their deals honoured at the new level. Subscribers can leave their contract without penalty if they contact TalkTalk within 30 days of being notified of the upcoming changes.
