Halifax All In One Mastercard
John Fitzsimons reviews the pros and cons of the Halifax All In One Mastercard.
On today’s show, I’m going to be reviewing a brilliant credit card from Halifax, which gives you a route around a sneaky trick all credit card providers employ to milk more money out of you!
So what’s so good about the Halifax All in One Mastercard? For starters, you get nine whole months of interest free credit on purchases! So if, like me, you have a few big expenditures looming on the horizon, this card gives you plenty of time to pay them off, without getting whacked with interest payments on top.
Not only is the Halifax All in One Mastercard terrific for purchases, but you’ll also get 0% interest for nine months on balance transfers as well. So if you are currently stuck paying interest on an existing card, the Halifax card should be very tempting.
The final brilliant thing about the Halifax All in One Mastercard is that it neatly sidesteps negative payment hierarchy. This refers to the order you pay off your credit card debts – namely, the cheapest debt first - and is a way for credit card providers to get more money out of you.
So if I have a credit card with 0% interest on balance transfers, but charges 16.9% interest on purchases, any payments I make go towards my cheapest debt – the balance transfer. Until that balance is cleared, my purchases will be left racking up interest.
Luckily with the Halifax All in One Mastercard, as the 0% periods are identical, your debts are treated exactly the same.
