New DVLA driving licence scam email warning

Watch out for this dodgy message in your inbox.

The DVLA has warned drivers to watch out for a new scam email doing the rounds.

The agency said it has had reports of people receiving emails claiming to be from the DVLA, urging drivers to verify their details or risk losing their licence.

The email provides a link to a fake website, which looks similar to the DVLA online service and asks for your driving licence number and payment information.

It’s a scam!

The DVLA has not sent out these emails, so if you receive one you can be sure that it is a scam.

Those that click on the link and fill out the information will be supplying their details to fraudsters who will then be able to commit identity fraud.

How to keep safe

The DVLA strongly advises anyone who receives one of these, or any similar email, to avoid opening the link and delete the message from their inbox.

If you need to use online services for driving licence or vehicle tax transactions, make sure you use the official gov.uk websites, such as the official DVLA website.
