Couple win Euromillions lottery TWICE thanks to their dog
Ruby the dog has helped a couple from the Isle of Wight to double their Euromillions lottery winnings.
A dog has helped a couple from the Isle of Wight to double their Euromillions lottery win to nearly £300,000.
Jane and Alan Slater won almost £150,000 – twice – on the 29th September draw.
Alan said: “I discovered our first win in the early hours of Wednesday morning when I came in from work. To wind down from the shift I decided to check the football results and our Euromillions numbers, but what I saw soon put a stop to my gentle wind down.
“We’d matched five main numbers and a Lucky Star with our numbers so I ran upstairs telling Jane to get out of bed, she just grumbled at me that it better be a good reason!”
Things got even better when their dog, Ruby, uncovered a second winning ticket, with the same numbers, on 5th October.
It was tucked in a catalogue in a car and floated out when Ruby and the couple’s other dog jumped into the car after a walk.
Magical
Jane and Alan described the moment they found it as "magical": "I really can't explain the way this piece of paper floated, it was like you see in slow motion in films, as though someone wanted me to notice it,” said Jane.
Both of the lucky tickets were bought at a Spar in Newport.
The couple bought tickets for several draws, and in this instance Alan bought a ticket without realising that Jane had already done so.
They’ve used numbers 3, 11, 14, 26, 29, 49 in lottery draws for the past 20 years.
Mr Slater (65) is planning to retire a few months early after the stonking double win, while Ruby and Kai, Alan and Jane’s other dog, will be getting some thoroughly deserved treats.
