Vote for this year's best car insurance provider.

There a hundreds of car insurance providers in the UK, but which one is the best of them all?

loveMONEY readers told us their favourites were Admiral, Aviva, Direct Line, LV= and Saga. But now it’s time to vote for an overall winner that will be crowned loveMONEY Champion.

You can use the poll at the bottom of the article to pick who should be awarded best car insurance provider of the year. But first here’s a bit about the five that have made the shortlist to help you decide.

Admiral

loveMONEY readers think Admiral is a top car insurance provider.

The firm was one of the first insurers to offer a multi-car insurance policy to save households with two or more cars money on getting cover.

Today Admiral claims its multi-car insurance can save customers over £200 a year.

It also offers single car insurance policies from £160 a year as well as black box insurance which gives safe drivers the chance to get discounts based on their driving style, which has saved one in 10 customers over £360 a year.

In addition Admiral provides classic car insurance, plus loyalty discounts when you take out other products.

Aviva

Aviva is another firm favourite with loveMONEY readers.

It offers single car insurance policies from £187 and claims it can save drivers a third with its multi-car insurance policy.

Drivers can also save money with the Aviva Drive app. It monitors driving habits and after 200 miles you get a rating. Aviva says you can save up to 20% on a comprehensive policy.

You won’t find Aviva policies on a comparison website, which makes it a bit of a rebel in today’s competitive market.

Aviva’s policies have been rated five stars by defaqto in 2015.  This means it’s considered “an excellent product with a comprehensive range of features and benefits”.

An Aviva comprehensive policy offers everything you’d expect plus 24/7 claims helpline, uninsured driver promise, child car seat replacement, £150 personal belongings cover, cover for loss of keys, travel after an accident, repairs guarantee and in-car audio equipment cover.

Policy holders can also benefit from Aviva Advantages, a scheme exclusive to customers with offers, discounts and prizes.

Direct Line

Direct Line offers single car and multi-car insurance policies as well as telematics insurance called DrivePlus which gives safe drivers a discount.

Live Aviva, Direct Line does not appear on comparison websites and rewards people coming direct with robust policies.

Direct Line’s cover has also been rated five stars by defaqto in 2015, so you can be sure you are getting good value for money.

With a Direct Line comprehensive policy, you benefit from a guaranteed hire car, replacement child car seats, in-car equipment cover, accidental damage, hotel expenses, vandalism protection, an uninsured driver promise, 24/7 accident recovery helpline, personal possessions cover and repairs guaranteed for five years as well as everything else you’d expect to find on a comprehensive policy.

LV=

LV= offers single car insurance from £179 and a multi-car policy discount of up to 5% when you insure two or more cars.

The provider also has its own telematics app which can save new customers up to 15% once you’ve recorded 200 miles over ten or more journeys plus £10 off just for using the app.

Like Aviva and Direct Line its policies are five-star rated by defaqto, so you won’t be getting a bare bones deal when you sign up.

Comprehensive cover gets you an uninsured driver promise, replacement child car seats, accidental damage cover, mis-fuelling cover, new locks if you lose your keys, unlimited cover for in-car equipment, a new-for-old car replacement and £200 cover for personal belongings.

Saga

Saga offers single car policies from £120 a year and multi-car policies insured at the same address get a 5% discount.

Its products are only available to the over 50s, which means they come with tailored perks.

Saga’s comprehensive policy holders get uninsured driver cover, vandalism cover, cover for travel or hotel expenses after an accident, up to £1,000 personal belongings cover and guaranteed replacement car.

But they also offer emergency ‘any driver cover’ which means if a medical emergency interrupts your journey any driver can take over the vehicle, plus there’s cover when driving abroad in the European Union at no extra cost.

Saga is another contender with a five-star defaqto rating.
