Your shout: what do you think is a successful salary?

Updated on 19 January 2016 | 1 Comment

We wanted to find out how loveMONEY readers define a successful salary. The results might surprise you.

Employment specialist Reed recently released its findings into what we think is a successful salary.

Women deem £54,000 to be proof of a successful career while men aim a bit higher at £58,000.

Yesterday, we opened it up to the floor. Here’s what you said.

As you can see, there was a fairly varied response.

It appears that a significant number of you think big money equals success, with 30% saying that their definition of a successful salary is £100,000 a year or higher.

Of the more average salaries, 16% said that £50,000-£60,000 was desirable and a slightly lower 13% agreed on £40,000-£50,000.

A tiny 3% think that a salary below £30,000 is successful, even though the average UK salary in 2016 is £27,645 according to the High Pay Centre. Perhaps we’re not as successful as we'd like to be.
