The best Mother's Day restaurant deals and specials offers

Updated on 29 February 2016 | 0 Comments

Taking your mum out for a slap up lunch? We've found some of the best deals and special offers to consider.

Many mums will be wined and dined this Mother’s Day; bookings are up by a whopping 61% compared with 2014, according to restaurant booking site Bookatable.co.uk which says British and Italian restaurants are our most popular choice for a family meal.

We've taken a look to see the best freebies and offers you can take advantage of, to spoil mum without spending a fortune!

Free fizz

Mums can get a free glass of prosecco, (worth around £5), when eating at chains including Giraffe and Prezzo.

Giraffe’s free fizz deal means buying any main meal where prices start from around £8. And at Prezzo, as well as free fizz, mums get a voucher for a free bottle of house wine on their next visit.

Get on the mailing list with Bill’s ‘family style restaurant’ which has over 75 outlets across the UK for special offers like details of a special ‘bubbly code’ to claim a free glass of prosecco or pink lemonade when booking a table for Sunday.

And there’s a free glass of Cava on offer at the Latin American chain Las Iguanas when mum orders a main course. Plus kids eat free on Mother’s Day too.

If your mum doesn't want the free fizz, they can opt for a free soft drink instead.

Chocolate strawberries with fizz

The newly opened Leman Street Tavern in London’s Aldgate is offering mums a complimentary glass of prosecco along with chocolate strawberries if they pop in with one of their children on the day.

This is one of the Geronimo Inns which has 40 locations across London and the South East. Some of its other pubs are also offering their own individual deals including a free gift for mum at the Red Barn in Surrey.

Mums dine for free

There are several of these offers around, but check the terms and conditions carefully as some may involve advance booking, downloading a voucher or dining later in the day.

Harvester’s deal is available from 6.30pm. You’ll need to produce a voucher for this one, which you can get from the Harvester website. As with most ‘free’ deals, it’s the cheapest main meal that’s free with prices from around £8 up to £16.99 for the 10oz Rib-eye steak.

Mum eats free and gets free chocolates too at Faborje Bar & Grill in Watford, where its special three-course menu costs £19.99 a head with a generous choice for each course. Children under 8 eat free. Book via its website to secure the deal.

Take your mum to a Yates's bar and restaurant where she’ll get a free main course with every main meal purchased and you can add on a glass of prosecco for £2.95. Yates's has over fifty pubs across the country.

Free dessert

After 5pm mums get a free dessert with any main meal at Crown Carveries and Sizzling Pubs. Choose from the full menu including classics like treacle sponge, lemon meringue pie, profiteroles, trifle and cheesecake.

Eat at Bella Italia and mums can choose a free dessert from the menu including tiramisu, limoncello meringue pie and cookie dough lava cake. No voucher needed and only valid for groups of up to six people.

A stylish lunch venue with free fudge

The beautiful Eynsham Hall in Oxfordshire has a special Mother’s Day lunch, along with balloon modelling and a magician for the children as well as a complimentary gift of Eynsham’s speciality fudge for mum.

It costs £27.50 for adults, £12.50 for under 12s and under 5s go free. There's a three course meal, which includes choices of smoked salmon, Dorset crab quiche, a choice of roasts plus desserts including sticky toffee and date pudding and vanilla and buttermilk rice pudding.

Free wine or chocolates

Mums get a free bottle of house wine to take home (worth around £15) when ordering a main course at Frankie & Benny’s.

While the wine is meant to be taken home, when I asked a couple of outlets, they told me it would be fine to open the bottle at the table and enjoy with lunch. Or you can opt for a box of chocolates instead.

Free afternoon tea

Mum gets a free afternoon tea worth £49.50 when in a group of four of more at luxury boutique hotel Flemings of Mayfair. You’ll get a glass of champagne plus sandwiches, scones and petit fours.

The Bristol Hotel has afternoon tea from a very reasonable £17.50 a person and Mums get a free glass of champagne too.

Book via Afternoontea.co.uk

No freebies, but great value menus

There may not be any freebies on offer with chains like Carluccio’s or Zizzi but both offer special deals from under £20.

At Carluccio’s you’ll pay £19.99 for three courses plus a glass of prosecco and get a 10% off voucher to use in the shop. Or with Zizzi, it’s £21.95 for three courses with fizz.

Check the small print

As with any offers and deals, check the small print as some locations may be excluded or there may be a minimum spend to get any ‘freebie’.

You’ll usually need to book in advance to secure the offer, while some won't accept loyalty points (like Clubcard points or Nectar) if you are going for one of the special freebies.
