A Sky spokesperson said: "We are always investing to keep Sky the best value entertainment choice for customers. This year we'll bring customers even more unmissable original British drama as well as the best US shows from HBO and Showtime."

This is just the latest in a series of price rises for Sky customers. Last June it increased TV prices by up to 9%, while it was forced to extend the penalty-free period for customers to leave this year after scrapping free weekend calls for broadband customers and increasing standard line rental.
