The best iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus deals

EE is the only network to announce it will be offering the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for pre order from 9 September but has yet to reveal any deals.

The other major networks are being a bit vague about the exact date the phones will be available.

Three is asking customers to register their interest but haven’t said when the phone will be available for pre-order.

Vodafone is doing the same and just says the handsets are ‘coming soon’ and also encourages that you register your interest so that it can text or email to let you know when you can pre-order.

O2 is being similarly coy and like its rivals is asking shoppers to register for updates.

Networks like Tesco Mobile, GiffGaff and ID will also be offering the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus but again do not provide any dates.

Details of the tariffs will most likely be revealed on Friday morning and we will update this piece when they are announced.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus specs

So what is there to be excited about?

The new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will come in the choice of silver, gold, rose gold and the new matte black and jet black (128GB and 256GB) finishes.

Apple won’t offer a 16GB or 64GB version of the phones anymore instead you will be able to pick from 32GB, 128GB or 256GB models.

Both of the new handsets are water and dust resistant and the home button will be more ‘force sensitive’.

Apple has removed the headphone jack on both models. Compatible Lightning Earpods will ship with the devices, along with a 3.5mm adapter, so you can still use your old headphones if you want. Apple will also sell new wireless AirPods though these will cost you a cool £159.

Both of the new devices will also for the first time have stereo speakers.

The camera on both devices has also been improved.  Optical Image Stabilisation allows for three times longer exposure and the camera will come with a wider aperture lens. The iPhone 7 Plus will have two rear cameras, allowing for greater image quality on pics taken from further away.

The screen is also said to be 25% brighter and will provide more vibrant colour though the resolution hasn't changed compared to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Both devices will come with a faster A10 chip, will run on iOS10 and will offer better battery life compared to the generation before.

Plus, for gaming fans Nintendo has said it will launch its first smartphone game Super Mario Run on the App Store.

iPhone 6s gets cheaper

The launch of the new generation of the iPhone has seen the cost of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus drop and the storage capacity doubled.

The iPhone 6s is now £499 and £599 for the 32GB and 128GB models, while the 6s Plus will cost £599 (32GB) or £699 (128GB).

Apple is no longer selling the iPhone 6.
