Co-op meal deal for two: top picks in the food offer

The Co-op Irresistible meal deal lets you choose one main and two sides (one can be a dessert) for just £8. Here’s how the cheap food offer compares to some of the more popular meal deals available from rivals.

The Co-operative Food Irresistible meal deal lets shoppers pick up food for two for just £8, making it a cheaper alternative to the Marks & Spencer Dine In for Two and Tesco Finest meal deals.

The Co-op’s food offer deal includes one main and two sides, one of which can be a dessert if you're craving something sweet.

The main downside is the offer is only available in around 250 stores – out of over 2,500 Co-op stores – so there's every chance your local won't stock the meal deal.

The deal is available for those ordering online delivery but, again, this is restricted to certain areas.

What’s available in Co-op’s Irresistible £8 meal deal?

While the Co-op offer beats Tesco (£10), Marks & Spencer (£12) and Waitrose on price (£12), it's worth noting that there is no drink option.

Given that all the above rivals include a wine option worth up to £7 in their offers, you already have to question how good a deal this is.

That said, if you really aren't fussed by the lack of booze, then it could still prove a competitive offer.

So let's take a look at what you get in the Co-op Irresistible meal deal.

Mains:

Desserts:

  • Co-op Irresistible mango and passionfruit slice (two pack);
  • Co-op Irresistible British cheese trio;
  • Co-op Irresistible choc melt in the middle pudding twin pots;
  • Co-op Irresistible sticky toffee pudding.

Is this good value?

There are limited prices for the above items online, but if you bought the lamb moussaka (£6), cauliflower cheese (£3) and sticky toffee pudding (£2) as separate items, you would pay £11, meaning the meal deal would save you £3.

You might save slightly more depending on what you choose, but £3 is a small saving compared to some rival deals such as Marks & Spencer’s Dine In for Two.

Overall, we'd have to say this is one of the less competitive supermarket meal deals we've seen.
